I took my hunting buddy out hunting this afternoon. This was the second time he'd been out with me in the blind. We were seated for about 10 mins and a doe walked out into the clearing. My son promptly yelled, "Deer! Shoot it Dad!" The deer promptly trotted off before I could even get my bow up. He was so excited! So was I. It was the first time he's seen a deer while we were hunting. 30 mins later he was fast asleep... Oh... To be four again. What a great afternoon with my son. He's a guy after my own heart! Sleeping on stand is my secret technique! Animals going by always tend to wake me up...well almost always ;)
One time had a guide wake me up with a text message asking why I didn't shoot that buck that came into the stand. I had no clue what he was talking about, but I responded, "Too small :chuckle:" After some choice French verbage be comes back, "Get ready! You were right, the big one is about 50 yards behind you." I never did tell him I was sleeping when the first one came by.

What is with the block of wood hanging in the blind there? Looks like a dangerous place to start a fire :chuckle:

It's funny when the kids get excited. My wife had our boy when he was six with her her first year bow hunting. They had a spike come by the blind at about 10 yards and he saw it first. She still managed to get the buck though while trying to shush his "there's a deer, there's a deer..." The spike just kept looking around like what the heck is that funny noise. :chuckle:
Keep up the good work.
