Post by: Cap.Silver on December 15, 2013, 11:14:08 AM
The tradition in our family is carp for Xmas ..... and I got appointed to get one :bash: .My better half would peel my skin of my body if I didn't deliver  :yike: so my question is does anyone knows what and where at this time of year ???? In the summer it shouldn't be a problem ,but now ?
I'm counting on you boys and girls .....otherwise my skin in gone  :chuckle: :bdid:  ...and yes I know that the Asian markets might have some in frozen or live form .

Can't help with the carp, but maybe consider changing the tradition to "Christmas Chum". I know where you could get tons of those. I'm not 100% sure but I would guess the taste would be about the same.

Some of the lake is still frozen near the shore after last weeks cold spell. We used to see carp jumping all the time but since the tiger muskies were introduced I haven't seen one in a while.

Good luck!

Let me know how that goes for you. Tapps is across the Highway, I didn't know that carp were in it. I am still trying to find a decent lake for Catfish.

Got there today to the main park gate and guess what ? Gate closed with sign across "PARK CLOSED" and another sign saying "Park closed from OCT.1 - MARCH 31 ." I 'm not sure if there is another access to the lake other than private - so I turned around and went to "CHINA WALL" supermarket in Kent by HWY 167 . There I bought whole Bighead Carp for Xmas and piece of Grass Carp to make my wife happy .... she tried the small steak today for dinner and I got a big "A+" a that means I can go duck hunting again this weekend and the weekend after that fishing and hunting and so on  :IBCOOL: :chuckle: :tup:She was really happy .....
Now I think I want to try lake Sammamish .....anybody knows if the boat launch is open ??????????????????????

You are in luck! Use a 2/0 octopus hook, a whole piece of white bread CRUSEHED into a ball. 20lb main line 15leader.
After you have crushed the bread into a ball secure it in a egg knot firmly, do not slice the bread to far with the line.
Cast no more than 100ft off shore.
You leader should be 3-4ft long
For weight use a 1/2 oz bank sinker
