Just saw a picture on Instagram (mossback) that Kevin Klemper killed another monster on his SEDOND raffle tag. Stated 404" bull.
-
No pic....
-
Here you guys go...
-
Another blues bull?
-
Wow what a giant
-
DANG!!! :yike:
-
Just another paycheck
-
A Dandy!!
-
Thats a slob!
-
Yeah that is a gorgeous Bull. I hunt the blues for deer and i tell yeah the bulls are getting huge. I saw probably 3 or 4 bulls that would have jumped all over the 400" area. Have trail cam pics of one that I thought was this bull to a T but not a broken upper tine.
DANDY! I hope he had to help the guide pack it out!
-
Very nice bull but just looking close the side closest to the camera look a lot bigger then the other side but hey I wouldn't pass this bull up any time anywhere  dandy bull

Whatta bull
-
Must be nice to have money... I will say it... I am jealous.... I do not hate the player just the game. I for one think the rules should be changed.. This guy will buy the raffles every year as he has this year and years past. I feel that there should be a cap in how many you can buy. Don't know about you but I wont be throwing my money away anymore when guys like this can buy it. Wish I could do it though..
-
Amazing bull. I am surprised the head is just hacked off like that. I for sure would be mounting that bull!!!!

He has so many 400 bulls this is a dink.. Only deserves a european in his mind

Looks caped out to me. Slit from head down the back. :dunno:
-
:yeah:
-
Maybe it is caped and it just looks split around the head. I would think anyone would love to have that bull mounted! He is a old trophy bull for sure!
-
Yeah, looks caped to me.
-
:yeah:
-
great bull he is living the dream ! good for him .
-
That's a great bull, even with the broken tine, Trophy for sure.
-
Awesome bull. Thanks for sharing.
-
Good looking bull right there!
-
Great bull for sure.
-
The bull of my dreams, if I win the 525 million dollar mega millions Tuesday he's gonna have some compitition for that tag next year!
-
Can someone explain this process to me. He buys the tag for ?$$$ and then hires Mossback to scout all year. They in turn hire locals in the area to keep an eye out for the biggest pig? He is then packed in ? Scouts in the area all week keeping tabs on the bull? Whats the charge for Mossback? Tag? etc. And does he have to draw the Blues or its anywhere in the state?

Technically speaking, he didn't "buy" the tag. He won it in a raffle that he spent a whole ton of $$ on. There's guides, finder's fees, etc. I don't know that the charge for Mossback is known. He had the eastside raffle elk tag and the southeast big game combo raffle permit. 1 raffle tag specific to the Southeast and 1 for all of eastern washington, in any unit that had an open general season or special permit season in it.

I'm trying not to be envious and not succeeding very well. :'(
Congratulations to the fortunate hunter.
-
Dream bull!
-
I am impressed with that bull for sure. I am not a Debbie-downer but I am not envious. I envy those that draw a tag, scout themselves, and hunt insanely hard and kill a bull of this magnitude.
-

If you had $3,000,000 that came in every year, would you feel the same way?
BTW, he did draw a tag. I'm not a proponent of this style of hunting because I enjoy the nitty-gritty as much as anyone but what he did was legal and ethical, just not our style. When I have that kind of money, I will probably spend an exorbitant amount of money on raffles...I probably wouldn't hire mossback though.
-
Great bull! Congrats to the hunter! ;)

My views on HOW he killed the bull aren't related to money so I don't understand your question. Why would money make me hire a mob of Mossback idiots to track a bull for me just so I can shoot it? I am cool with him spending the money on the tag itself, getting the tag is the easy part if you have the money. I just cannot bring myself to ever pay a penny to someone to find me an animal. Especially a crooked crew like MOSSBACK. I see it as a waste to pay that much for a tag and not spend every waking second that you could trying to find that bull yourself. I just love that feeling at the end of the day that I did it, not someone else. Sure we all have buddies that help along the way on a tag but that is not the same. I wasn't at all down playing the bull or even hating on him for spending the money for the tag, I was just saying I am not envious of HIM. If I am going to ENVY someone, I will wait for that guy/gal that draws the tag, hunts hard, and kills a bull like that. Just not gonna envy him personally for that accomplishment
-
I ENVY CORY TDF!!!!! That sounds like a hard earned DIY trophy for sure!
-
I don't claim to know the whole story but I'm 99% positive that there was not a whole crew of Mossback guys hired to track the bull. I'm 99% sure that there was not a soul from Utah here at all.
-

You are correct.
-
dandy Bull :yike:
-
So what's the cost for the guide?
-
Based off the past two years I doubt Kevin needs a guide anymore. He hunts a long time to kill those bulls probable knows the blues pretty good by now.
-
Damn nice BULL though
-
If i'm not mistaken, I have the sheds from this bull from last year. I'll post them if I can ever get them to upload. It is definitely a dandy bull!
-
lets see if this works..

Bet you could sell them to the raffle hunter ;)

Did anyone see the pics of the governers tag :yike: holy $#!?

Wow, they got him! Congrats to him.
Once he was relocated, I think he stayed pretty visible.

Guy at work showed me that pic yesterday. I was trying to figure it out where he was hunting. So roughly how much does the governors tag go for?
-

relocated what's the story? :dunno:
-
Both are incredible bulls! But the first pic of the guy that won the raffle in the Mossback picture is obviously photoshopped. It's as plain as the nose on your face if you just look at him. There is NO WAY any self respecting hunter being guided by "Mossback" would mix a KUIU jacket with a pair of Sitka pants. It just wouldn't happen. :chuckle:
-
That's like a fashion no no
-

I think it was a little more than $40k this year.
-
$44,000 for the governors tag. I wonder how much the two raffle tags cost?

I think he had 3 total plus the WSF sheep tag too.

I knew he had the 2 raffle tags and a sheep tag. I need a new job :bash:

$44,000 for the governors tag. I wonder how much the two raffle tags cost?
Roughly the same, but without the guarantee of getting either tag. Plus, if 2 people are seriously bidding for the Gov. tag, then the $44k price jumps to $60k.
Just once I'd like to see a 1-ticket-purchased guy get the tags out from under the $20k spent guys. I do want the $20k guys to continue paying that much, though. Lots of good is being done with that money.

:yeah: Agree with all comments above. Unfortunately, the "one ticket guy" won't be me. I quit playing when I figured out how this game was being played. I can't afford the donation...

And you are not alone. It should be limited to 5 tickets each category per wild ID, I bet sales dollars would remain relatively the same yet eliminate the virtual guarantee that someone can simply "buy" the tag.

Do you think that enough of us would jump in if there was a limit? It would take a lot of $15 "jump ins" to make up for $20k...

I do. I think more people like you would participate and also more people that are buying 1 or 2 tickets would max out at 5 as well.
-
I bought about 5 each when I played the game. I'm sure I am not alone.

I'd like to see where those dollars are truly being spent. I'm not sure 'Lots of good is being done' with those funds.

I recently sent a email to wdfw sharing these exact thoughts. I feel there should be a cap as well. If people like klumper ( not knocking the guy ) keep buying the raffle people like me will stop participating and in the long run they will loose money. :twocents:
-
Ross-
People like you have already quit participating.
-
With the cost of permits, I have yet to buy in to the raffles. The odds are just as bad.

That's what I am saying ...these guys pay all this money for these tags and think the money is doing something good ! Not saying it is not but I highly doubt it ....There is no way I heck I am paying that kinda of money to brag about this huge bull I killed ...Just not my way of hunting ...I would rather shoot a spike ... :yeah: But THIS IS JUST ME AND MY OPINION .....

Next question ....are these guys even on this site ? :dunno:
and do not pull an A&E on me and throw me off the air :chuckle: :chuckle:

No. There was one of the guys who participates now and then in the auction hunts that was a member, but after an endless ration of trash talk from the members, I think he decided to pull the plug.
:dunno:

I question how much of all the WDFW revenue is used wisely. It seems the WDFW is way to heavy with upper level managers and non-game management. I'm afraid that's where much of the money goes. :twocents:
With that being said, the WDFW is the product of our elected officials. We elect these people. The Governor then appoints commissioners, legislators approve the commissioners and pass the WAC's, commissioners choose the director and WDFW policies. Long story short, we are getting what the majority votes for.
I hold nothing against anyone who can afford these special tags and would buy them myself if I could afford it. It saddens me to know that the nasty comments of a few jealous members keeps the rest of us from hearing the hunt stories of these awesome animals. :bash: :twocents:
-
Just curious if anyone willing to try to help put pressure on WDFW to change the raffle process? Put a cap on it?
Maybe someone write up a well written letter and get as many huntwa members to sign it?
Just curious.
-
Ross, There is a survey the public can participate in where you can voice your opinion on many issues. I suggest ALL hunters voice thier opinions on this survey. I know there is not much faith that the state will even listen but it is an opportunity to give opinions on thier terms. I will address other issues with our chapter of WFW. I believe all chapters could pull some weight with the state if it is organized and addressed in the right way.
-
There is a member in here who pulled one of the raffle tags with like 20 dollar entry.. He got a ram, bull, and buck..
-
Seems to me that the guys that are targeting the raffle tags are going after the single species raffles with big $$$$ ???????
-
ElkBurger, "voicing" your opinion to the WDFW gets you nowhere! I've watched many of their "surveys" and "Town Hall meetings" and have come to the conclusion that they are going to do what they want no matter what the "popular opinion" is. Case in point..... Mechanical duck decoys. :twocents:

I have taken the survey. Seemed pretty vague stuff on there.

I would like to see one governors elk tag and and a limit of 100 tickets in the raffle for any one wild id number. I think the Governors tag would go 60 or higher because these guys can't 'buy out' a raffle. I really don't think the difference in money to the wdfw would be all that much as more guys would return to the raffle knowing they could actually have a chance at winning. :twocents:

Like I said...Theres not much faith that the state will even listen....The town hall meetings are a bitch fest and the user groups start arguing amongst themselves. I dont think enough people participate because of lack of faith. I have seen some changes. Probably from massive input from certain usergroups or harvest reports. i.e. shorter early archery seasons, more rifle rut tags, etc...
