I need help finding a good functional way to carry my AR while in the field. I have a single point sling attachment as well as a quad rail that would accommodate a double. I have been doing some research and there are literally hundreds of options.
My AR has a bipod and scope if that helps with anyone's thoughts. I usually just carry in my hands but it is kind of a pain when I want to look through my binos.
Any help is much appreciated.
This is one I have been considering, but it is easily 2-3 times the cost of all the others.

I always liked the three point slings in Afghanistan, when we got back I went to just the standard two point and it did just fine. It really is all preference.

It depends really!
With the bi pod set up, I would go with a regular sling, but that is just me. I have a black Hawk 3 Point Tac but no AR at this time. My wife uses it for her 270 and it has worked great for her and she has a Bi Pod attached.
If you want quick access in order to shoot something that does not stand still long, I would put the pod in my pack and use a 3 point tac. Then when I get to a spot where I want to set up, I just attach the pod back on. For me the pod could get in the way if I had to bring my firearm to point quick.
These are just my opinions.
Amazon has a few AR slings for a decent price as well.

A safari sling I the only way to go

I use a standard 2-point sling on my ARs. I bought the quick detach "Uncle Mikes" stud for all my buttstocks to take off that "loop" sling attachment so I can switch slings easily among my ARs. Even with a bipod on the gun, there's a sling attach point on the bipod. I tried a single-point sling on my ARs and hated it. No matter how I wore it, it was never comfortable. I ended up selling it to a friend--Cheap. Good riddance! I put an Operator stock on my last AR build, and to my surprise, it only uses the push-button sling loops. Had I known that, I would have put a different style of stock on it. Luckily, it's not a gun I carry all the time. :twocents:

I just use a MagPul single point with the quick release. I can carry the rifle hanging at my chest , to my side or throw it around behind me. With one pull of the quick release lanyard the rifle is free. It's completely adjustable with one hand. I can reach up with my off hand (Left) and adjust tension on the sling while still gripping the rifle.

It does require the MagPul attachment plate as seen bellow to the far right side of the pic.

I use just a regular sling but really want a set up like biggerhammer has

I have a Black Hawk 2 point quick adjusting sling. I can lengthen it out and carry like a Safari Sling or shorten it down and sling it on my back.
I would recommend it to any one

If used for hunting and not for close quarter CQB, then standard two point, hunting rifle style carry, will serve you fine.

^^this^^
IMHO
Single point slings are only good if you are standing watch and not having to move around i.e sitting on your butt behing that geo-block baricade.
If you have to move, a two point is good...just toss the rifle over your back sinch it up and haul ass...
Now, if you are needing to run and gun...well IMHO, slings just get in the way...I hate getting crap hung up on other things I am wearing. which is why it is good to have some quick detatch biners on it...yank the sling and stick it in your pocket.

All depends on how you rig a single point, there are several options. Quick releases are there for a reason, fairly nifty in their own right. If one has to "Run and gun" ;) with a single point. There's the little nifty quick release and no need for the pocket. Just a pull of the lanyard and it's free for prone use.

I have tried several and settled on the Padded V-Tac (Viking Tactics) sling. Its comfortable for all day carry and is EXTREMELY fast to get on target.
Watch the video on how to use it.

:) Actually that is a compensator, no snow in the barrel there. I always tape the muzzle with electrical on all my guns while hunting. I had already killed my buck that morning and just out playing with my camera when that pic was taken.

(I know what it is  some call it a flash hider, others call them compensators, some call it flash compensator, some call it flash eliminator, some call it muzzle brake, some call it flash suppressor.....I was trying to cut through all that)
Do you tape through the compensator openings? I was worried it would affect the cold bore shot.
I got a boot for it now though.

For those not familiar with the MagPul MS3 that I like using as a single point. With a single press of the snap release. I can release it from the single point configuration and snap the free end to one of my MagPul RSA sling adaptor loops mounted on the rail/ handguard and BAMB! Instant two pint, quick adjustable at that. Just amazing.

Its a full on comp or muzzlebrake, (more of a flash enhancer really :chuckle:) , .308 but shoots like a .223.
I wrap the whole thing doesn't affect accuracy at all,
sorry for the thread hi-jack
