Title: Looking for a new bow sight
Post by: yakimarcher on December 19, 2013, 04:38:08 PM
I'm in the market for a new sight, I checked the IQ retina lock 7 pin and I think its got some cool features, pretty spendy though. I would really like a micro adjust 7 pin model any suggestions?

Armour tech

In my opinion Spot Hogg, Black Gold, and Axcel are all much better choices. Think about it, how many target setups, which are trying to hit dimes every shot, have a retina lock on their sight? Zero.

Armour tech

That would be my first choice too.

Wholly Crap!  Did I just agree with a logo pusher? :chuckle:

I do like the Sure-Loc Lethal Weapon and wouldn't separate it from the Amourtech by very much,  And actually the Sure-Loc has a better adjustment for the different axis adjustments IMO.  You can get that with retinalok or without.  But I like the more compact size of the Armourtech.  Both great companies to support so you can't go wrong either way in that regard.

I will put out a warning here.  Seven pin sights often lead to some serious target panic issues.  Even for guys that have not fought target panic in the past.  I'd rather see a guy set a five pin sight up for 30,40,50,60 & 70 rather than a seven pin sight from 20 to 80.  Trust me when I say, "Target Panic SUCKS!"  And once you have it it's like being an alcoholic...as you will always be subject to it's evil nature.  It's a real nasty affliction >:( >:(

Radsav is right about the target panic  :bash:  it's a bad bad thing.  I can shoot lights out on a Saturday and half of a Sunday then boom game over if the target panic sets in.

I shot Spott Hog for years.  Other than brittle fibers I have nothing bad to say about the product.  I actually really like the vertical wire too!  But I got tired of getting the cold shoulder at the shows and with some of the pranks at the local shoots. So even after shooting them for over a decade and selling many hundreds of them I chose to get rid of every single one I had and made the switch.  I'm very much a You treat me well and I'll treat you well kind of guy.  And both Field Logic and Tru-Ball treat me extremely well.  At one time the Spott Hog boys treated me very well too.  With no explanation I have absolutely no idea what may have changed.  But, I doubt I will ever sell or buy another one as long as I'm still able to shoot and that does make me a little sad.

I was sent an Axcel this year.   ;) Outside of the pin colors (I hate red and not a big fan of yellow) I don't have any complaints.

I'm looking into switching to a 5 pin sight. i have a trophy ridge 3 pin sight on it now and looking forward to the extra pins. Not looking to kill the ol'Banksky so trying to find out what a good brand for a lower cost would be. I'm looking for something that Some glow to it and i like the thought of the descending pin sizes. I'm new to archery and was wondering whats the deal with trophy ridge, Seems like a lot of bows come stock with it. is there any value in their products?
