I haven't taken very many pictures this year so far but I'll take more as the season progresses.
The trout in the colony trap was released unharmed. Being a fisherman I was very careful to ensure this.

A couple of different colored mink.

I wish all traps had 6 rats in them!

Bobcat hitting the bait.

Bobcat going into cage! :IBCOOL:

-
Watch how the cage jumps when the door drops and hits him in the foot. In the future I'll really be making sure the cage is secured better. If it tipped over he'd get out.
-
Said cat. 27 pound tom.
-
AWESOME, What a nice belly on that cat!!! Love the packed rat trap.
-
Very cool

I always set along side a small tree and wire the cage to the tree so it can't tip.
Nice cat! I'm jealous of your rats!

Have you been in there lately? Went in today. Needs another couple days to thaw out. Talked to a guy who lost his beagle in there.
-
Nice videos !!
-
WOW! To bad about the camera, but the videos are awesome. My son, and I have to get going on this. Thanks.
-
Haven't been there for a couple weeks,I got lots of time on my hands though ,I have a broken finger that has got me on the disabled list and no work, hurts bad and really don't look all that good after a month of doctors care ,swelling hasn't went down,it's been splinted a month, splint is off now and the thing still points straight at the ground.Feels like surgery is imminent to fix it.I have very little confidence in the doctor overseeing this project.I get the feeling he works on more womens breasts than fingers, plastic surgeon.I'll spock it out next week, this 24-7 with my old lady really has me knowing I need some away time.I shot my yote gun off the bench last week, that was allright, but just about anything else sends the thing into orbit.I wanted them to just cut it off, ring finger,I'd still have half of it left and it would be healed up a heck of a lot better than it is now, busted in the middle knuckle and feels like the 3/16 bonechip is working like a doorstop inside the joint, moves one way but not the other.Theres a spot I need to go sit awhile and see what shows itself,I think there are some nutria there too. They caught one in a water draw sewer at work last year and I saw tracks/scat that matched WDFW info on nutria there in the mud near the big pond.

Cool videos 3nails. How about a video on some of you mink sets before they produce.
-
Awesome thread nails!
-
Great videos!
-
Awesome videos! I always wanted to put a cam outside of some of my traps, but thought it would be to hard to watch the refusals. Do you get many bobcat refusals on film?

Yes, that same cat. He wouldn't go in at night. Kept looking at the cam. Freaked him out a bit. First time he showed up during the day he went right in.
-
I just set out my cat traps two days ago. I have seen sign in the past where I set the traps, so hopefully I will have one in a few days. I love the videos that you posted. It's nice to see a brother in the LORD out trapping.
-
Great video of the Bobcat going in to the trap. Great post. Makes me miss trapping...
-

Just watched the otter video and enjoyed that as well... Pretty sweet to get a double. I used to trap quite a bit in the County before they shut it down for legholds, conibears and snares. I really enjoy your posts and think it's great that there are still guys out here gettin er done. What is the best way to dispatch the mink in the live traps?

I toss the trap in the water while we check the rest. Gives the body good time to cool down as well.

I look forward to your videos now 3nails.....don't buy another camera :chuckle: I'm trying to get my trapping ed card # from Olympia. I took the class in 1987. Hopefully they still have a record of that.
How many mink, and otter have you trapped this year? Do you buy your traps, or build them?
-
Never mind how many mink, and otter you have trapped. I read the score board

I hope it works......It should. Hopefully you get a nice cutthroat also.
-
Aint ya worried about critters destroying the camera?
Not in the rat trap. If this works and we put it in a beaver trap........ well that could be a whole different story.
-
Pretty good morning.
-
Aint ya worried about critters destroying the camera?
I think they'll bump it around but the instinct when deprived of air is to go up, they always die in the upper corners.
-
thats a damn fine couple days of trappn there, i love that bobcat
-
very nice! big otter. the last two had nice gray faces
-
Took my daughter out on a date today. Gotta make sure she knows how a man should treat her! :chuckle:

Awesome, what a great Dad!!

Really hitting some large mink and rats lately. Some of the biggest of both we've ever seen.
This mink looked like a cat!
-
Looks like alot of fun
I built a couple rat traps today 8x8x24. What is your favorite size 3nails?
-
That dude is huge!

I built a couple rat traps today 8x8x24. What is your favorite size 3nails?
This is by far my favorite rat trap size. 16x8x24. Doors are 8" wide x 6" tall with a 2" xtra above the door for them to bite on and still let more rats in.
-
Wow! Great, I'll build one. Thanks
-
Another large cat tonight and a rat in a mink trap.
-
Rat

What a great thread! Awesome work

Nice kitty, bet that one will stretch over 40 inches easy, good job.
-
Nice job.
-
Those traps baited with rat meat seem to work well for muskrats. Maybe it's just me but rat meat bait seems to catch large rats. Thanks for posting looks like another great season for you.
-
That's awesome. Love the pics.
-
Nice cat dude..... gotta love the bobs..
-
Got this cat hitting a beaver carcass. Removed beaver and set cage. Had another cat hitting a different carcass but didn't have an extra sd card to pull it. Lord willing cats soon!
-
Now that's a purdy cat!!!!
-
Well the cat showed up but refused to approach the cage due to the cam. Hopefully he comes back during daylight when the cam isn't glowing.

-
Cool  He almost went in :dunno: You think it's the camera, or your sent?
-
Not sure which one I caught but as the cat approaches the cage you can see the caught ones eyes light up to the far left. I need to center the cage in the frame better for the night video.
PRMS0142 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y5PhCF3Tgg#)

So you caught one of them?
-
Yup. PTL!

That's surely something I'd like to do.

Another BIG mink. We've really got some nice ones this year.
Caged mink (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drX05acDPc8#ws)
-
They make cool noises.
I watched one sneaking up on a doe last year. When the doe took off, and the bobcat chased after her, the cat was making noises like that. The doe was actually leading him away from her fawn. She would stop whenever the cat would stop. Leading him away. Pretty cool to see.
-
Nice work
-
Good job nice looking cats!!
-
you all are getting a lot of cats this year, congrats! very cool
-
Finally felt good enough today to check out a new rat area. Fresh feed beds every 3' over probably 40 acres. Only had 7 traps with us. Wish we'd have brought the load.

A couple of 50+ pounders.

We've got cats all over our sets but they just won't commit. I may have to pull out the cams to see if they are the cause of it.
-
Great Job guys.
-
Nice catches...
Send me a pm if you have a smaller beaver skin that you would sell, need one to tan?
-
When you started posting the pics of the cats that were hanging up,my immediate thought was if there weren't cameras there you'd have had em dead to rights.I noticed that the plain old house cats of ours can instantly hear or sense the laser pointer,Same goes for a dog that would point the dot,he could hear it as well, would perk up his ears.Ditch the cameras for a week and see if you don't find yourself in the middle of a kittypalooza.

I've been watching. Keep the vids and pics coming. :IBCOOL:

Beaver (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr_WRsBJFhQ#ws)
Sweet brother, thanks for that video. Gives me alittle bit better idea. I really need to find some smaller channels. The one were looking at now is like 25 feet across.
-
Well virtually done for the year. Still have out an otter cage, mink cage, and 2 bobcat cages. Checked my bobcat baits and had a couple hits so one last weekend. Pretty good sized bear stole 2 beavers. I heard him in the brush when I checked a cam. Just over a half hour earlier he was there.
The first pic is from one cam and the other pics from another. Still have one bait to check.
-
.
-
The bear took the beaver out of your swim through trap? I was wandering if bears become a problem this time of year. There's a lot of torn up stumps near where we have a Bobcat trap. I keep expecting to find the set tore up from a bear.
-
What an awesome thread. Thank you!
-
I saw you last Saturday but never did get a chance to visit with you. :bash:
-
I had a lot of my coon sets tore up by bears early in the season. Kinda a pain. Can't catch anything when the trap is sideways
-

No, the beaver carcasses I had out to attract the bobcats.
-
I thought those bear were starting to wake from their nap  I have 2 buddies who got bear tags for this spring ...Got my excuse to get out into the hills early this spring :chuckle:
-
So we had this cat in the pics (dates are wrong- were never set) working the bait consistently for several days. We set a trap last night and when we checked it today the door was down with nothing inside. In the trail cam pics I can see glowing eyes inside the cage from what I think is a civet cat. :dunno: The question is how did he get out? :dunno:
-
Placing cage.
-
Skunk? We reset trap and will hopefully have cat tomorrow! Need another fur for the house. At least that's what my wife says. :chuckle: :sry:
-
The civets will fit right right through the bars on the door of your cage trap, which is a good thing.
Good luck once they find your bait they just keep coming back for more.
-
:yeah:
The only way to keep a trap working after they show up is to trap them out. Sometimes a lot of them. I think my record is 11 in a row before I cleaned out a spot. How Many day left in the season? :o
-
Not enough to weed out 11! :chuckle:
-

Oh yea, duh :chuckle: I should have read that better.
-
Pulled our last water trap today and had one last otter! Praise God. Two cat traps and a mink trap to pull tomorrow and that's it for the year. :'(
-
Nice job Nails!
-
Nice work 3nails. To bad the season has come to an end.
