By this fall you could walk across Scatter Creek at our property if you had on just ankle high boots, and keep your socks dry. There were deeper places, but the water hardly moved down stream. So far this winter the water rose above the banks by about 8 inches for a few days, a few weeks ago. That was the only time there seemed to be any animal movement up/down stream. We are downstream from the hatchery, but I have not seen any salmon in the creek, dead or alive. Yesterday I saw the first three newly beaver-chewed sticks that floated down stream to our place.
So far my 2 pass through traps have caught only one small muskrat. Someone or some thing pulled out the guide sticks I put in before that trap caught the rat. My land traps have only caught 2 'possums, no 'coons.
Guess this shows not to put all your traps on too small a piece of property, but other years were much better. Maybe when more rains come the critters will move around more. Well, I'm getting exercise and fresh air.

Isn't that the creek that they turned off the water to, hoping to restore it to natural condition? Do they still operate the hatchery?

Water levels are extremely low for the time of the year. I wa sup to Quinault lake today and the beach ran way out.
I have held off on setting many water sets of late because I can't get the traps under water. Not much moves on low water anyway.
