Hello all, I'm going to start cougar hunting here soon and wanted some advice on the type of calls I should use. Never hunted cougar before, but I do have a tag so I figured I'd give it a go. For those successful hunters, if you could provide any pointers on how you called them, it would be much appreciated. The only animal I've ever called in were Whitetails...
Merry Christmas!!!!

location is more important than the calls.
you can call blind 100 times and not see a cat, but then you could walk right in within 500 yards of a cat and call it in with dang near anything - if it's in the mood to check it out.

Do you have an electronic caller?

KFhunter, thanks for the information. Trying to determine the location now..
Rainshadow1, I don't own any electric callers.

I make a hand call that does a vocal (vocals make them less sneaky and many times trigger vocal response), and I have lots of tutorial material (look at the call-in story page on my website for starters.) But if you're serious about giving it a go, you're far, far better off getting a programmable remote electronic call. You can definitely call them in with a hand call, but an e-call is just way better in many ways.
You don't need a super high end one, (FX3, Scorpion, M1, etc.) just make sure it's remote operated, and it's programmable. For a new one I recommend the firestorm on a budget, and the CS24krakatoa as an investment. (I don't represent any caller company, btw.)
