Title: Homemade trapping Gear
Post by: Machias on December 25, 2013, 01:47:25 PM
So I did three projects in the last couple of weeks and all three turned out great.  Made a collapsible Fleshing beam, already posted photos here:

Made a pack basket and it turned out way better than I imagined it would, made it just like this one:

And finally made a catch pole just like this one:

What other projects have you guys made and can you share how they were made.  Thanks!!

Here's the pack basket in action, really comfortable and can carry a load.

Skunk tube traps that I am going to try for mink, I think they will be good mink traps.  Set one here today on a trail cutting across a small finger on the Mattaponi River.

I like your skunk tube traps.  Do you have any other pics showing how you incorporated the door and trigger mechanism into the tile/culvert?

I didn't make them.  I will take some close up photos tomorrow for you.  They are commercially made and cost $49.  When I bought them I got them for $35 a piece.  Love them for skunks, we'll see how they do on mink.  :)

Thanks Machias.  I used to trap mink on a floatboard with leghold in front of a pvc tube.   I was trying to come up with an inexpensive way of making some live traps...

Here you go.  Great trap for skunks, we'll see if a mink wants to go inside.

thes are the traps i made i am hopping to get them out this in the next day or so. they are a lot bigger then i needed to go that is because of a plan to make them fit togther and i was going to have it be a set of 4 but i went with the spring doors so that will not work now. the next ones i make will be lots better there was lots to learn on putting thes together.lol

Very nice Machias.  Thanks for the pics.    I like the simple design and should be relatively easy to duplicate
