Title: Looking to buy Mink/Otter Traps
Post by: cwbobcathunter on December 26, 2013, 01:59:57 PM
I'm in the market for about ten swim through power-door otter traps if anybody has some. I'm also interested in some mink traps, I've been seeing lots of sign when setting muskrat traps (it's my first year trapping so I haven't got all the traps I feel I need yet  8) ) Any pm or response would be appreciated, thanks for reading.

Wow, you want to start out with ten?! That's a lot of money (maybe a couple grand) and a lot of work. If you are retired or unemployed and independently wealthy go for it but..... I have a full time job and can barely manage the traps I have. Maybe try starting off with 3-4 otter traps and 3-4 mink traps to go along with your rat traps before getting too carried away. Also, they take up a ton of space.   :twocents:

Have you looked at Comstock or Advanced traps?

Thanks for the helpful feedback/responses guys, this site is always great for getting help from people. 3nails, I go to CWU full time and chose to trap this year instead of having a part-time job which gives me more time than most guys to get out and go trapping. I have to admit though that my desire to catch mink started from your thread, and seeing your success.

Also, does anybody have a trap/ for mink that is a drowning set?

Colony traps work well as a drowning set but if you're catching rats for bait the dry sets can turn into drowning sets fast.
