Title: YJ Guide Service Goose hunt
Post by: YJ Guide Service on December 27, 2013, 04:28:32 PM
We hunted this morning from 8am to 10 and filled two limits in a little over 45 minutes. We are going to be booking a couple of these trips in January for $160 per person for 5-6 hours. These are goose hunts in wheat fields in layout blinds over decoys. Birds are in your face at 30 yds or less most of the time. If interested we take two guys out at a time. Here's a couple pics from the past two days. Call 509-999-0717 Craig

Maybe I'm not to smart but how do you shoot two(2) limits of geese in 45 minutes and post pics on a public forum to brag about it w/phone number and truck license in the pic?

It is called advertising your own business.

YJ, I am anxious to do a hunt like this with my kids next year, stay tuned!

I am sure we would go a bit longer with our crappy shooting! :chuckle:

It is all about location, location, location.  That is one thing you need to figure out in the start of your goose hunting effort.

Why make fun of a guys decoys? Last time I checked, as long as your bringing in the birds the quality of decoys doesn't matter. I would use blowup decoys if it meant me and buddy each shooting a limit of geese.

I couldn't agree more I have seen a guy that makes his own calls bring geese into sagebrush without decoys. This guy could talk goose!

That goose hunt sounds like a ton of fun.  Been a few years since I've been goose hunting and it was a blast then.  I wish I lived at least a little bit closer......I'd be all over that.

:yeah:

You can have dozens of primo stuffers and a world class caller, but if you are not where the geese wanna be, your success will be very limited.  When I say "where they wanna be", I'm not talkin the general area, I'm talkin "the" spot.  After the geese leave the field they are feeding in, we will go out and find their droppings and mark it with a GPS.  There were times when we spotted them with binocs and figured we knew where they were, the next AM in the dark with a little fog, we wandered around for the better part of an hour trying to find "the" spot.  We probably spend upwards of 8 hrs scouting for every hour of hunting.

Anyone who gets on here and starts asking for paying clients and not friends are going to get some punch lines on here.  There are other ways to get free advertising such as craig's list.  I don't know these guys but IMO are just trying to get a few clients to fund their hunting.

What I can tell you is, on the home page reads waterfowl ducks, geese, and other waterfowl.  Nothing reads paid sponsor advertising theads.  Banners fine, but if you want all the threads gummed up with sponsors wanting paying clients then just keep calling me new please because don't want to be your know it all.

I gotta be really dumb I guess cuz I call 8 geese for two(2) hunters one(1) limit of birds. Or, "We shot our limit".
Quite a few times over the years I've limited w/buddies. I never told anyone we shot 6,7 or 8 limits. I simply said we shot our limit. A limit.
Sorry for the confusion everyone. Just wanted to clarify since I figured his buddy was taking the pic.

Why are there so many haters on this site? Good guys trying to make a living, doing something that they (and we) love. No need to trash them, why do that?

It's just this thread, and I was wondering that myself. On the plus side, they're all keeping this at the top so more people see it. Best thing that could happen for YJ Guide Service. Without everyone picking his post apart, this thread would be buried by now.   :chuckle:

I really think it's a small minority that tend to distort the good.

As a paid sponsor we are aloud to post threads with our name and phone number to advertise our business's. That's why we have to pay money to advertise on here. If a business didn't pay to be a sponsor then they wouldn't be able to post a thread like this one im sure. I posted a report on how we did hunting and to let people know we offer goose hunting, I don't see where the problem is with this. I pay my money to advertise on here just like all the other sponsors on here.

No problem. As someone pointed out you've probably got far more hits and interest because of the ill advised comments.

Carry on.

I met yj and his lovely wife during elk season and I can first hand say them seemed like some stand up people. If I was into hunting fowl I would be all over this. Who cares what he uses for dekes. He's killing birds, that is all that matters...period! Keep it up.

I see lots of guys still using those Flambeau and Carry-Lite shells.  You probably don't want to know how many hundreds of geese I shot over them in my younger years.  My grandfather used to tell me all the stories of the loads of geese they shot over his home made silhouettes.  I have since gotten caught up in the marketing madness and upgraded my decoys, I still ask myself why I wasted all the money, because I am confident that I still could shoot ducks off of partially painted ones.  They would still get within my comfortable shooting zone before they flared.     Just remember location, hide, decoy sets and when and how to call.  Some of the stuff you just don't pick up behind a keyboard.

There is no shortage of this, that goes around.  Post some well earned shoots and everyone is trying to find out where you hunted or pull the GPS coordinates off your photo's.  I guess internet scouting is the future.   :chuckle: :chuckle:  I personally like to be sitting in the blind and send scouting reports from my phone.

I was reading this morning that dead geese tend to not have a preference of decoy brand/model.  Interesting...

Ok, so i will give you that it should be posted under sponsor classifieds as it is a thread advertising a hunt and looking for clients, fair enough.
The proper way to address that would of been to point it out and ask politely that a mod move it to there not make snide comments concerning his decoy's or trolling for clients to fund his own personal hunts..

Keep banging up those geese up north so some of us hunters down by Lamont and St.John can get into some geese. It has been slim picking, and absolutely no ducks!

I don't get the 'trash' decoys post. I've looked at the pics a couple times now and those decoys look just like mine. I use a few full bodies if I'm in a situation where I can haul them otherwise it's shells and silhouettes. They've served me well for many years. I can't afford stuffers.

We use two dozen big foots, two dozen silho socks, and the rest shells on stakes or just on the ground.  Normally we don't do goose hunts cause we enjoy hunting them ourselves but we have a large influx of birds this year and have secured a few farms around us so thought I would see if anyone wanted to do a couple field hunts with us. I have no problem with them moving this thread if that's what the monitors wants to do with it. Good hunting everyone I'm heading out tomorrow morning on a new field to try our luck....
