Title: Mid February
Post by: 92xj on December 30, 2013, 10:42:15 AM
Is there any fishing worth going for on the coast this time of year?
I will be heading over there for my second trip ever since moving out to Washington.  I dont know the ways of fishing out here and sure dont know what's biting, but would entertain a guided fishing trip for a half day if there is anything besides bottom/rock fish.  Will be on the Southern Washington coast for a few days.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a guide who can get you into some good steelhead fishing at that time of the year. The Cowlitz River might be your best bet.

No salmon open in the ocean in February. If you're willing to go north on the coast there's lots of steelhead possibilities (and guides) from Grays Harbor all the way to Forks.

As Bobcat replied, Cowlitz is probably closest for a decent river with plenty of guides. Not really prime winter timing for the Cowlitz, IMO.
