Title: Squawfish recipes
Post by: PANZER MARKVI on August 27, 2007, 01:05:20 PM: My son and I caught two 17 in squawfish yesterday. We have been told that they are delicious and want to try them. Does anyone have a recipe for squawfish?

Another recipe I am aware of includes sawdust and a chunk of plywood. Do you want me to PM it to you?

I'm glad you caught them and removed them from the system. Some places you used to be able to make a buck or two on them if you turned them in. I'm not sure that still happens anywhere.

there is a bounty for them on the big C. there should be a bounty on them on the yakima.... >:(..... but hell they are a native species...
i have never heard of anyone eating a squawfish except a raccoon. i've also heard them and whitefish referred to by many different names. i know people target whitefish for the smoker and they reportedly very good.

These are trash fish that need to be killed. As for a recipe............I work for a living so I dont have to eat things like squawfish.....nasty!

The best thing that I have ever done with a squawfish, besides getting paid for them by the Bonneville Power Administration(the dam people) is throw them at my fishing buddy which always turns into a game of squawfish baseball. Ha ha ha

Post by: rasbo on May 17, 2015, 03:38:32 AM: don't laugh squawfish make for good eats,I take them and filet one side,cut in chunks about the size of a 1/2 dollar,I run a 3/0 circle hook through them,after that I poach them in 65 to 70 degree water for just enough time for a channel cat to get hooked...then I have some good eats
