Title: Finally
Post by: Machias on December 31, 2013, 04:57:43 PM
Hunting and trapping have REALLY sucked for me for the past 16 months, so many people the few pieces of state land are just over run.  Private property is extremely hard to get on.  So I have been trying to find a little private land and having no luck.  Then all of the sudden in the past 2 days I have a 400 acre parcel and a 700 acre parcel open up for trapping.  They have beaver, rats, bobcat, otter, mink, coon, fox and a few yotes.  Can't wait to finally get started laying some steel.   :IBCOOL:

:)

I stopped by a nursery last night to see if I could get some peat moss for bedding traps and the old gentleman said I could set a couple of traps at the back of his place which is right on the Aquia Creek.  Had a three legged coon and a grinner this morning.  Nice way to start the New Year!

Is the grinner even worth the work it'll take to put it up?

Absolutely!  2-3 gallons of gas.

Really nice colored possum but gas must be cheap in VA. :chuckle:

:chuckle:  Ok a gallon of gas.  I used to skin, flesh and stretch rats for $2.50.  If it goes in my trap it's going on the stretcher.   ;)
