Post by: slayerofthesea on December 31, 2013, 07:20:30 PM
Who plans on buying a new firearm this year? I would love to buy a 50 cal muzzle loader. Or maybe a single action muzzle loader pistol.

I would like to pick up a couple AR-15 rifles and a FNH FNS-9 pistol, and I would like to start building a .338 edge but it might take me a couple years to complete.

I'm hoping to just find some reloading supplies.  If that happens, then I might start thinking about a conceal carry piece.

What components are you guys looking for? I've had pretty good luck finding powder and primers, it just takes some digging. I even bought a 8 pounds of Varget a while back. I ended up passing 6 pounds along to other guys though.

I don't like to plan my purchases, the impulse buys are always the most fun. :chuckle: I wouldn't mind finding a good deal on a 416 Rigby though.

I'm looking for H1000, CFE 223, Nosler Long Range Accubonds (30 cal)..............and some other items that I'm not remembering right now.

Anybody know if Cabelas is open today?  I might have to swing in there today to see what they have in stock.

I see some reloading components here and there in my travels, if someone can pick it up in Colville or wants to pau=y the shipping I don't mind getting something for anyone.

All the online stores have a little of this and that, you just have to research to find what you need.

I've got a few I want to add to my quiver.  A Colt SAA 45LC, a higher end over and under shotgun and for some reason I seem to think I want a FN five seven and I would probably never turn down a good deal on a 1911 or Sig.

I've got a hankerin' to build another custom rifle but I'm not sure what it should be.

Almost forgot, I need to buy a 22Mag rifle of some sort to go along with the healthy supply of 22mags I have but I'm not sure if I want another Savage 93 like my 17hmr or if I should get a CZ, Marlin, or what.  Thoughts on a good 22mag rifle are welcomed.

I ordered a stock from Boyds for a custom 10-22 I'm going to build.  Ordered it last year, but it won't come until this year.  I don't have the rest of the parts yet.  I was going to find a donor Ruger 10-22 but got to thinking that by the time it's done, there won't be much Ruger left, so I might as well go with trick parts all the way.  Like I need another gun!!!  :chuckle:  :dunno:  :chuckle:

I like the Marlin rimfire rifles, I have an older Marlin 882 - 22 magnum bolt-action mag fed with a 3x9 redfield scope.Blued barrel & wood stock.
I bought a Marlin XT17V last spring at Cabelas, 17HMR stainless bull barrel & laminated stock. I had a 6X18 power scope in the cabinet that I put on this rifle. I need to switch it out with a lower power scope when I have a extra $200 or so to buy a new one.

I never really like the Savage brand of firearms. How ever I did buy a old Savage 410 tub-fed bolt action from Cabelas acouple of months ago for $69. I have about eight, maybe ten old 410 shotguns. If I see any 410 for a$100 or less I buy them if they are in decent shape, Same with older 22 rimfire rifles.

My 2014 gun purchases will be:
a Sig Sauer Mosquito 22 semi-auto
a Ruger SP101 - 357 Mag with a 3" barrel
a 12 gauge over/under shotgun
a Ruger Alaskan 44mag (used)
a Ruger or Remington Stainless Steel Old Army or Old Navy Black Powder revolver (used)
Rifle Reloading Equipment
Barrels for my T/C Contender, 30-30, 222 Rem, 223, 35 Rem, 357 Mag, 44 Mag, 7mm08.
Ammo for every caliber I have in my collection and reloading dies for them as well.
22 ammo when ever I see any!

A friend of mine saw a new Ruger American in 22 Magnum and bought it, and told them if they got in a 22 LR in the same gun to call him.  A few days later they got a 22 Rimfire Ruger American in, and he bought it.  They haven't been able to get any more rimfires after those.  The guy that bought them is a benchrest shooter, so he's pretty picky about the guns he buys.  If you see one in 22 Magnum, buy it!  evidently they are rare and hard to get.

a FNH FNS-9 pistol

I love my FNH pistols.  I have an FNX-9, an FNP-40, and an FNX-45.  I had the Striker-fired XD-40 and XD-45 pistols, but once I got the FNX-9, I sold the XD's and got FN's.  Being old school, I like a hammer on my pistols, and think FNH came out with the striker-fired FNS series to keep up with the times.   :twocents:

If you get one, be sure to give us a report.  I have 2 Benjamin Marauders and like the PCP's.  I think the Airforce guns use the other type fill connector, so I stuck with Benjamins.  They are great guns, and super accurate.  Dozens of dead Starlings and Eurasian Doves can't be wrong!   :chuckle:

I'm not really looking for anything right now but I won't rule out buying any new firearms.

This year I plan on spending more money on gun projects rather than buying new guns. I'll be adding more reloading equipment and components also.
