Headed out to the river this morning, gorgeous Bluebird day, I've forgotten what it's like to have sun on the water all day.
Took one of the old girls out, a French 16ga sxs, she's pushing 100 yrs old, but still lively in the hands and deadly on the ducks.
The ducks decoyed well, Mallards, Widgeon, Pintail and even a few teal are still around. I think all the animals knew it was the last day. First three Otter came to play in the decoys, then a small seal had to check the decoys out one at a time. A couple Eagles came and spent a few minutes hanging out near the blind resting on a root ball and finally a herd of elk came out on the flat and started grazing just up from me.
I just love duck hunting here, hunted all day on public land and saw one boat of guys and they just motored out of sight and hearing.
I hope everyone is having as much fun as I've had this season. I hunted the first two weeks of the season with a partner and the rest of it alone, just me and the dog what a great season.

A great month is still ahead. Why end it early?

I'm retired and have hunted as much as I've wanted all season, I've been to WI, MT and here. The dogs arthritis if getting bad, and time for a break for him. We've had a great season, best I can remember. There were so many birds this season I went to hunting with pre-WW-2 hammer 2.5" SxS's and still had one of my best seasons. It is just a great day to call it over for this year.
Now to do a little coyote hunting, Trooper gets to sack out in the tuck instead of hunting dogs(thank you WA Fish & Game).
