Had a stainless synthetic M77 in 300 win mag back in 1995. I adored that rifle, but falling on tough times in my youth forced me to sell her... Took me a long time to buy another since I'm primarily an archer and have a few other rifles to get me by. I've recently bought my son his first, and I got the itch to replace my lost love with a modern upgraded version. Hopefully she'll be in by the end of the week so I can give a review with a few pics. I have a 4-12X40 Vortex Diamondback on the way to top her off too. I'm excited to put her together, and run a box or two drown her! Curious as to how that brake will perform. My old Ruger was a punisher to put it lightly...

I have been toying with the idea of picking one up as well. Make sure you post some updates on how she shoots!!!

Great choice, great chambering. Recoil will be that of about a .243, with that brake on a 8lbs rifle. It should be a pleasure to shoot.
-
Very nice.........looks like they made it to compete with Savage Long Range Hunter. Sure looks nicer.
-
Odd choice :dunno: But I like it  You'll have to come back to this thread and tell us how she shoots!

Wear hearing protection if hunting with a muzzle brake. My $0.02

That's a nice rifle. Just a heads up. My .300 win mag broke the same Diamondback scope. It also has a muzzle brake on it. Dunno.
-
I can't say for sure that the rifle broke the scope for sure but that's what I think. That scope was replaced under warranty and now rides on a .22-250

my friend has the muzzle break and its unbelievable how loud it is, painfully loud. My dad also has that gun without the brake and its not nearly as loud.

Thats no doubt! Buddy has a muzzle break on his and good god that thing is loud!

Very Nice!
I love the Ruger Hawkeyes. All of the ones I've had the chance to play with shot well (under 1 MOA) and had extremely smooth actions. As much as I love my Savages, I still think that Ruger makes some of the best hunting rifles.
