I am trying to cover my bases in anticipation of getting an archery buck worthy of a shoulder mount in the Cheney area when the weather will likely be quite warm, so I'm doing some research to find a taxidermist in that area who has a good reputation and does high quality work. Any recommendations?

Wow, no good shops in that area, eh? :dunno:

Headhunters Taxidermy in Plaza right of hwy 195. Email Doug at headhunterstaxidermy@hotmail.com.
Fantastic work and he welcomes drop in at any time. He has a great deal of his work on display so you can browse before you buy. A good amount of African work also displayed with a bunch local deer and elk.

+1 for Doug, does fantastic work

Doug does good work.
Another option is Advantage Taxidermy out in Davenport/Creston Area. http://www.advantagetaxidermywa.com/ (http://www.advantagetaxidermywa.com/)
They do all my work, but I have seen Doug's work and been in his shop. Both are great shops.

Are you going on a guided hunt? Or just have access? Just curious I lived there for along time. You can pm me if you have any questions about the area

Dave Burdge from Life Signs Taxidermy is in that area. http://www.lifesignstaxidermy.com (http://www.lifesignstaxidermy.com)
This my first year using him. He will have a booth at the Bighorn Show in Spokane where you can see his work first had. Otherwise, check out the gallery on his page for pictures of his work.

Thanks guys, I have combed through the websites of the 3 recommended taxidermists. I'll try to fit in a visit to one or more of them next time I'm in the area to see their work up close. :hello:

Not guided, looks like I may be getting access to private ground I've had my eye on for years that has nice bucks crossing to their feeding location daily. I'd hate to have a big buck down in warm weather and then start wondering where I'm going to take it for a shoulder mount.

Haven't stopped by to chat Doug for years. Super good guy, good work with great prices back when I'd see him regularly. Glad to hear he's still in the taxi business.

Defiantly get ahold of Doug at Headhunters I have the phone number if you need it. Great quality and prices

His turn around time used to be around 4-6 months. Depending how busy he was at his parts shop.
-
His turnaround time has picked up a bit, his taxidermy shop is quite a bit bigger now..fills up his entire shop where his parts store used to be, and he is moved outta that smaller shop on the hill
-
I use gods creation taxidermy in waits lake. Jeremy is a stand up guy and does great work. Look him up.

Thanks for the update. I'll try to swing by next time I'm in the area and pay a visit.

I have my animals done by Chris at Coulee Creek Taxidermy. He does great work at great price. He is located in Reardan. Message me if you would like his contact info. The buck in my avatar is at his shop getting a shoulder mount done.
