Title: magazine is stuck
Post by: bmonti76 on January 15, 2014, 08:58:46 PM
So I ordered a new magazine for my Sako A7 7MM Rem Mag. I received the new one and inserted into the rifle. then I tried to take it out. I wont come out! I cannot work the release button. when I looked a little closer at the packaging I realized why this happened. The magazine sent by berretta arms was for a .300 win not a 7mm. I called customer service, they apologized and said they would send me the right one real fast.
I feel like a moron for not looking closer at the packaging first, anyone have any ideas what to do? the guy on the phone said that the two clips are very very close in dimensions and that it should wiggle out?

Can you remove the bolt and use a feeler gauge or similar thin shim to cause the latch to slide open?

I have the same rifle. What I would do is pull the barrel and action out of the stock and then push down from the top why holding the mag button down. You will get more leverage this way.

BMonti,

I agree with CarpSniper.  If you remove the 2 hex head screws on the bottom of the stock, the whole assembly will come out.  This seems the best method.

IceMan's idea is good in principle, but you cannot get a feeler gauge in between the magazine and the stock even with removing the bolt, as the magazine has a lip on top which bends forward.

Good luck!

This worked great I could actually work the mechanism from the inside after I removed the barrel.
thanks again for the help.
