I took and passed the test back in 04, I've heard they've recently raised the volunteering criteria since then.  I studdied pretty hard for a few weeks and passed with 86% I believe 80 was the minimum so the written test is fairly difficult.  In my opinion it isn't worth the time and hassle to receive it.  At least back then the hunts offered weren't that great maybe things are better.  To top it off WDFW continually has you jumping through hoops to keep your status even though you haven't expired yet.  Every 6 months or so I had to renew my oath, that they had re-written because some master hunters were acting like idiots they made everyone renew their oathes and jump through more hoops.  After 2 years of this crap I got tired of it and renounced my Master Hunter status.
