Title: Taneum 336 elk hunting?
Post by: joeschmoe on January 18, 2014, 06:23:39 PM
I have decided to move from 336 to another GMU.  I can give anyone that would like it tips on where I have been salting and where to hang tree stands if anyone would like.  Several years of selenium and hunting.

PM for more info.... Just trying to help anyone who needs help as I have moved my hunting camp elsewhere.

Lets just say that a few people in that camp pulled crap that my integrity could not deal with

Real low life thing to do....even if you don't like their hunting style / methods.  I have no respect for anyone that would lower themselves to a level like you have done.  Grow up!!

And know...I have know Idea who he is nor am I involved in his camp.  Just a low life thing to do.   :bdid:

If what you say or elude to is true you should have involved WDFW and left it at that.  Doing what you have done is not ok in my books.  Karma always sucks when it hits you from behind.  "Two wrongs to make a right"

I now understand a little more.  You obviously have spots on public land that others "stole" from you.  You are upset so you are going to really get them.....I get it now.  Post like this really get my goat.

I packed up and left... debating on how it would be to turn in "friends"... stewed on it for a long time, then got accused because someone else turned one of them in... hell I didn't even know what that person did was wrong.  Now they have started to attack me and other crap... so yes I notified the WDFW and also decied they will not retain my spots that I found and worked for years.

I think he needs a cooling off period before he really pisses someone off. Also would like to hear what the other side says since they can't defend themselves if there not part of this group.by his actions so far he's really not sounding like a stand up guy himself come on giving up honey holes, camera locations .REALLY REALLY REALLY

Where are there anything about cameras????  Bright eyes are trail markers.... for crying out loud.  These are MY spots, I found them, groomed them and worked them for many years.  Way before I invited these other idiots there.

Not saying you don't have right to be pissed but think before you speak your not the ony hunter in the woods. Blasting out spots is bs. Friends family doesn't matter illegal is illegal turn em in. That simple but don't be disrespectful to others who hunt the same area.

I made a bad decision once about bringing in an extra to elk camp. He brought another friend in and it screwed up our whole season. I took responsibility and told him that he wasn't welcome in camp the following year! I haven't talked to him since but I've maintained a good hunting relationship with two friends who have been by my side for 15 years. It only takes one bad decision. Luckily the long time buddies realized that it was a mistake I corrected and we've been hunting together successfully for the last 5 years.

Ummmmm
Well while we are waiting........".

As a guy who started a camp 25 years ago I can attest to the fact that keeping everyone on the same page can be a challenge. And the more the harder it is.
Started out me and a buddy for deer than some of his friends and some of mine.
Tha  muzzy elk, than turkey
Problem my friends very conservative his, let's just say his nice guys a little wilder.

Mine..None drinkers,
His.. If they can get away with it.
Every year the rub is meat split. Depending who draw cow tags. 1/2 split to camp 1/2 to shooter.
There's always the guy who wants in the meat split if he did not draw a cow tag. But does not want to be in if he draws a cow tag.

I do my very best to vet people, but sometimes you cannot tell until you spend time in. Camp together.
Even so I love the camps and look foreword to them every year. We are up to 12 for elk now.
And thanks poster we are looking for a new spot. :chuckle:

Kidding ..kidding. :tung:

You never know about someone for sure until you hunt with them for several years.  Even those you think you can trust can turn out bad.

Just because its his spot doesn't mean others don't hunt it. I know the area well, hunt it hard and make it a point not to be seen by others, or any of those "eyes' in the woods. Understandable that based on certain factors and the actions of others that it may make one feel good to make the "spots" public knowledge, but you may ruin it for others not involved in your quarrel.  :twocents:

Has nothing to do with the "spot" or "owning public land".  Has everything to do with a one sided story of a very disgruntled person settling his battle on a public forum like a baby.  I have no respect for that.  And then to top it all off, It sounds like this person made a second profile to hide his original identity.  What a coward!!

RT I agree, we dont own spots. I dont claim to own a spot. But from watching you and the way you've helped elk hunters in the past get into elk, you know that some work harder to find good spots than others do. It does not make it my spot, your spot etc. But there is a certain gratification that comes from being able to be on the mountain and know how,and where to get into elk. When most others are just wandering around lost in thoughts of the great wapiti. I prefer if I see people hunting the same spot as me, that at least they found it the hard way. I can appreciate that.

As for the OP, not sure of the back story yet so who knows if his actions are right or wrong.

Elk are smart and move when pressured , my guess is if Joe gives up his spot it's no gimmie , if the guy or gal is a bow hunter there's a pretty good chance of him/her just moving the elk maybe to your spot in 336. this guy sounds like he knows the area and has done well there , so by him blowing up and leaving to a different unit should help the heard survival odds , plus it brings attention to the other guys that may have been doing wrong and make them stop. I can see why he changed his screen name because we are so judgmental . my guess is once he digests it all he will pull back and just go his own way and find a new spot.
