Head west from the klick and hunt a few of the little sloughs/lakes next to the railroad tracks south of the freeway. Always tons of ducks in there. I see a ton of widgeon in there this time of year.

You may want to check the regs as your are restricted how close you can hunt to the Columbia in that section.  It might be a 1/2 mile set back to protect roosting and resting birds.

It has been a slower year on Conboy for many reasons.  Its rarely good to begin with, but bad water year, weird weather (turned into an ice cube first week of December) have not helped.   It is a very hit or miss place during the season.  I rarely hunt it because there are usually better opportunities elsewhere, and I live in Glenwood.  There are always more ducks and geese on the refuge in the spring (during turkey season) than during duck season.  It holds more birds when they are moving back north, especially light geese.
