Just curious. How many of you cats hunt more than one state for elk? I normally hunt WA and either MT or ID.
-
Yes. ID & WA. Tag soup both in 2013.
Or did you ask "How many SUCCESSFULLY hunted elk in multiple states?"
-
Pennsylvania...If I ever get drawn for it. :bash: Really high success rate too, but don't tell anyone. ;)
-
I've hunted and killed elk in Wa. Mt. Id. and Wy. with the most coming from Mt. and Wy.

WA, ID, MT, OR, CO, AZ, WY as applicable and drawn.
-
I'd love to but knowone will give me a tag :bash:
-
I have yet to hold two tags in one year but have grow more aggressive in applying for multiple states each year. Maybe this year.
-
Hunt in Idaho and put in for wa, never draw wa, have killed a few bulls in Idaho. Used to hunt the white river till it went permit!
-
I put in for every state I can. Killed 3 bulls last year with my bow, over the counter hunts. Addicted to putting in for the draws.
-
Hunted both wa and Idaho for elk
Put my pins on a great bull in wa and had my cross hairs on a amazing bull in Idaho
Unfortunately I took too much time pulling the trigger in Idaho
Very happy with both states an can't wait for next year
-
only when I draw special permits. Have never hunted a general season tag out of state.

I hunt Washington and now Montana for the last 2 years. Two years ago Montana started letting former Montana natives (have to have been born in Montana (birth certificate), have passed Montana hunter safety (since I took it in 1975, I thought this would be hard, EASY online, thanks Mont F,W,&P, and have a family member still living in Montana (mother, father, sister, brother, son, or daughter) for 100 bucks.

Thought I'd share this. 2013 Pa Elk pics. Couldn't quite get the links themselves, but if you GOOGLE: "Don Campbell PA Elk" and then click on ECO's 2013 zone 12 elk hunts you may be surprised on the quality of the elk there. I think about 70 tags are given out to about the 20,000 applicants :yike:

I have already put in for Arizona and Wyoming.
I also put in for NM, Colorado and Utah.
If I do not get drawn I typically go to a state which I can get an OTC tag.
-
Ive killed Elk in WA, MT and WY. I hunt WA and WY now every year.
-
Washington and Oregon for the last six years straight. Oregon is soo much more action for the archery guys.
-
Wa and Idaho for me. My elk hunting spots in idaho are actually much closer to home than my way spots! Long seasons and good elk numbers.
-
Big difference from hunting and applying for another state. Plenty of hunters apply for trophy areas gaining preference points and hope to draw that trophy area some year. Call it retirement trophy hunts for some.

the last time I hunted out of state for elk I had drawn Montana, and Washington big bull and also had an idaho permit in hand. Man what a year.
-
WA, OR, NM, MT, CO, WY, AZ, UT. I usually don't apply to all of them each year, but have hunted elk in all of them except UT. I've already applied to NM and have an Oregon Archery drop camp scheduled for the last 10 days of the Oregon season (Sept 19th thru the 28th). Here in WA, I'll be out the first week of Archery season.

Last time I had two tags was WA Quality bull and New Mex. in 2012. Ended up cutting my WA hunt short to go hunt New Mex., and bull in my avatar is the result. Sure wish I didn't burn up all my WA points, and been able to do the tag justice. But, NM tag was calling me away...LOL.

That is always quite the dilemma: "what if I get drawn for two tags over the same time period?" I guess the odds are so low that it's unlikely to occur. Still don't think I could avoid a little :bash: if I did.
-
I hunt Washington and Idaho. The wolves have hurt the elk where I hunt in Idaho and now they are moving in to my Washington area. :(
-
The 2013 season was the first time in 26 years that I did not have at least 2 elk tags in my pocket going into hunting season.
-
wa and Idaho for me. spent a week in sept in wa and then a week and a half in Idaho in late sept this past year. typically hunt Idaho mid sept and then wa for the late hunt though.
-
I hunt Idaho every year, washington some years...but I don't get too excited about spike only...so, Idaho is still my primary focus.
