Our monthly meeting for chapter 5 will be addressing the progress we've made and are looking to make on building a partnership/relationship with WEYCO with a goal of helping hunters gain access to their timberlands, while helping WEYCO protect their assets. If you're concerned about your ability to hunt close to home and live anywhere from Castle Rock south, you should attend our monthly meeting At Gilliano's Pizza in Woodland on Wed the 5th @ 7PM. We meet for about an hour. All are invited, not just WFW members. If you live farther away, you're still invited.
This is do-able with the right amount of hunter response. Figure out your priorities. If they include access to WEYCO property, you need to attend the meeting. Otherwise, you've got nothing to complain about if you lose it.

We have made great strides so far.
A lot of work has gone into this and it is about to pay off.

Please keep the forum updated as I am in spokane and can't man the meet. I do hunt that area every year. If theres anything I can do from here let me know! :hello:

First thing you can do is follow the link on the top left of the page and sign up for a free WFW membership. That way, you'll see all of the posts for WFW members and not be left out.

I will be there. I Would love to see as many members as possible show. All are welcome! Come on down guys and gals :hello:
-
So, what this really boils down to is that many people are willing to post on threads about how much they dislike WEYCO going to pay-to-play, but few are willing to commit time to something which could have a very positive effect for hunters. You can't expect change to come from someone else's action. You must be the catalyst for change. Anyone who has a problem with restricted access should be attending these meetings.

This seems to be a trend here.
People talk big but fizzle when the rubber meets the road.
The bottom line is that the number of volunteers directly relates to how much land can be opened up.
We will forge ahead with our plans with WEYCO and those that are willing to help will have the benefits.
-
We have to postpone the meeting for a week. Several members are sick and the Sportsman's show is on. The Meeting will next Wednesday the 12th at Gilliano's Pizza in Woodland at 7PM. I hope some more of you will attend and come find out what we're doing in Region 5.

It'd be great to meet you. We only meet for an hour because a few of us are up very early. Hope to see you there.

This week, I imagine we'll mostly be talking about what we've accomplished and are planning to do with/about improved WEYCO access and a relationship with that company. We often will also talk about Reg 5 membership and getting more people involved. The wolf issue is a frequent topic.

Who all will be attending this evening, please?
-
if it's still going to happen, I will be there + one other local

Not trying to be a downer or anything but just a curious question.... Isn't the group Eyes in the woods kind of doing the same thing? I've been to a few of their meetings and they were doing the same thing with marginal success. I think it's great what you guys are trying to do. Again I'm not trying to ruffle feathers but just curious.
-
I hope Eyes in the Woods is working to improve access. The more people working on this the better. Everyone needs to get involved to make a difference.
-
According to people who work with WEYCO, Eyes in the Woods burned all of their bridges with WEYCO by telling them what they expected WEYCO to do with their own land. EITW is not a good route to go to work with WEYCO.

Ok. I see. I'd been wondering for a while if EITW was even still around. Hopefully you guys will do better than they did. I applaud your efforts! I will try and make the meeting.
