Title: Just noticed this crack
Post by: 762Armo on February 03, 2014, 02:18:51 PM
On my 1911 ACT magazine.
Haven't been shooting in a while, but I do keep the mag loaded. Can the pressure on the spring from being loaded cause this?
What is that piece called anyway? Wonder if I can just order one somewhere.
This is the original mag I got with this pistol. Are there better mags to go with?

Its a base pad. There 15 to 17 on ebay. 22 to 27 for a new mag. If it accepts any 1911 mag the skies the limit...

Thanks wildman.
It will accept any compact 1911 mags.

Is it really shorter than a standard mag?

Yes, think Colt Officer's size frame.

Breaking a basepad isn't uncommon.  Not all basepads will fit your mag or your pistol if you use a magwell.

Wilson 47d's are the gold standard for 1911 mags.  I get rid of factory mags immediately and always go with Wilson's.

Get a Pearce extension and put on there. About $5-ish plus a couple bucks for shipping. I put Pearce extensions on all my semi's.....

Funny... I've found Wilsons that won't latch in many Colt's and Kimber's.   I use old Randle and factory Colt/Kimber magazines in every 1911 I shoot.

You should have responded sooner, because that would have been perfect for me.

I ordered an aluminum one off ebay, per wildmans suggestion. It was $17, but it won't break for sure.
