Who all is ready for the spring opener?!
I found myself in class at CWU daydreaming about gobblers. First round goes to the shotgun, 2nd round attempt goes to the bow. Its time to try to down a turkey with the stick and string!

The regular spring season is set for April 15th thru May 31st. The youth spring season for under 16's is probably April 5th & 6th.
Is it time yet? :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I must say this year went fairly quick. Last year I went to tucannon area An came back empty handed, however that won't be th case this year I hope.

Is the hunting usually best on opening day?

Looking forward to Youth season, that's the last weekend I get to hear gobbling usually here in Western Washington, the little b'tards get sneaky come mid-April.

Opening day the birds haven't been bumped, overcalled to, etc ... then again they usually still have hens with them .... later on the hens are nesting, but then you have birds that are more spooked ... early or late you can overcome whatever you need to by recognizing what the situation is and making the necessary changes to your tactics .... my final answer then is there isn't a bad day in the turkey woods, it's just what you make of it ! :twocents:

Well say a guy only has two days to hunt out of the entire season. Which dates would be better- April 15 and 16 or April 29 and 30?

I've been counting, hunting the NE on 4/17!!!

I prefer the opener ... should be good since it's on a Tuesday and you won't have the weekend only traffic. :twocents:

I second that. I would prefer to take my chances with birds that haven't been educated yet this spring.

I've been thinking more and more about turkeys....

I am worried the snow is going to be long gone and the birds will be well spread out and harder to find. I prefer the snow to be lingering on the upper slopes and the birds still concentrated at lower elevations. Oh well I'll still be out there anyway. Good luck to all this year!
