I just read through Bloomberg's MAIG list of participating mayors' offices and the cities listed for our state were pretty disappointing. The Methow Valley listings were pretty surprising...apparently those mayors don't care for all the dollars coming from firearms owners during deer season. Anyways, here's the list.
Bellingham
Chewelah
Duvall
Issaquah
Kalama
Langley
Mercer Island
Mesa
Millwood
Morton
Oaksdale
Orting
Pe Ell
Prosser
Redmond
Renton
Seatac
Seattle
Shoreline
Snoqualmie
Stanwood
Tacoma
Twisp
Winthrop

I see Mesa is on that list. Might be important to note that Mesa's Mayor was appointed by the Governor and not elected.
-
The thread title says against illegal guns.
If that's the case, I'm surprised the list is that short.
What does the dollars from firearm owners during deer season have to do with it?
-
It isn't the case, or solely the case. IIRC, MAIG bought the legislation in CO post Sandyhook that lead to Magpul leaving the state. So only in the sense that MAIG appears to want all guns illegal, is their focus strictly on "illegal" guns.
-
If you look into the organization 6x6in6, they are very much a gun control agenda-based group with a catchy name. I think most Americans want to see guns out of the hands of criminals, however this group promotes for much more than that.

Kalama??? wow!!!

Well for one, hunters ( and all gun owners) could make sure they spend as little as possible inside their city limits while notifying the powers in control of those towns WHY they don't get your money. They may not care in tourist trap Winthrop, but you might get the attention of Twisp....

Chewelah? Wow that's amazing.
I know. With a relative on the city council, maybe I better get them to tell the Mayor to get her head out.
-
The more the people know, the better we can influence our elected officials to properly represent us.

Agree, I am against illegal guns too.

The problem as I've seen it is that the group tends to leave out the illegal part and should just go by the name Mayors Against Guns. Other than the stop and frisk that Bloomberg used in NYC (later halted due to infringement of rights), it seems all their actions have been targeting legal guns. Ex...not permitting gun shows, registries, gun free zones, anti concealed carry and lobbying for new anti-gun legislation.
The group is doing the same thing that the enviros/animal huggers are doing with using soft sounding names that appeal to moderates to further hard line extremist platforms.

VOTE bad politicians out of office!
-
Twisp I can understand however I wonder if it is the old mayor or the new mayor of Winthrop we just had elections and a new mayor is in office Believe me I'll be checking on how the new mayors stands. And from past experience with politicians it'll be in writing

Chewelah? Wow that's amazing.
That's what I was thinking.
