O K ,I've been hunting everything on the globe with my ( ya I know,middle of the road bear core bow ),I'm definitely changing up to something with more trust at longer shots, (significant other permitting ),of course I'm starting to investagate my purchase and have never been more confused !all this talk about 1200 dollar bows blowing up and almost puling eyeballs out is just scaring the crap out of me !I really want to go to the hoyt but guys I could really use some help here !without breaking up any age old hunting partners or making a new thread record ,spending this kind of money is becoming a big chore,any short and kind remarks is GREATLY APPRECIATED ! (not my first post so I'm well aware of the rough crowds that hang out here,so feel free to put down my first bow of choice :bash: :bash: ) :dunno: :dunno:

Archery Talk would be my first choice for a volume of info but beyound that I'd tell ya to actually shoot a few bows that are set to the correct draw length and weight for you and you make the decision based on what feels best to you. Just about every bow out there today is a good bow. They're all fast, quiet and dead in the hand.

:yeah: Don't listen to what other people say to buy. Go try out several and you will know which one to buy.

Carefull with what you read at archery talk, nothing but hoyt is capable of shooting good according to them. And everyone there shoots 1/2" groups at 60. Form your own opinion based on feel, ignore the name on the limbs.

I can honestly say that I have tried several bows I'm just wanting to know were people are putting there money these days I guess,and those half inch spreads at 60 yards is what I'm after,i can pretty much keep my bear at that but only at 40 yards,hard to admit it but hear goes,at 56 years young the draw is the important thing ,which bow will give me more distance for my draw that I can handle correctly and ( quietly ! )thanx for the info guys still studying and I will shoot more bows before my purchase. :tup: :tu

You live in Spokane, go to Spokane valley Archery. They are a dealer of all the top brands and very good guys to talk with. They'll let you shoot every bow on the wall too (and there's a LOT). I shoot a carbon spyder turbo Hoyt, because I like it for various reasons. Figure out what you like based upon what feels good in your hands and on your shoulders via shooting different bows, and buy it.

I used to shoot a 70# bow. Dropped down to 60# when I developed shoulder problems. Now I shoot 45#. Its easier and more fun to shoot and the arrows still go right through deer. I shoot a PSE Evo 7. It is a well made bow with a nice draw cycle. It's a pleasure to shoot. I think other brands are probably nice to shoot too, but I have shoot PSE bows for years and they work for me.

Sakoshooter is right, if you're willing to buy used, you can buy a very nice bow with all accessories for five Ben Franklins or less on the Archery Talk classifieds.

Actually what my post says is to use Archery Talk for the wealth of info not to shop there although that is also an option.
This is a great site for info also so don't read anything into my post.

I purchased a parallel limb bow it shoots fast what I do not like about it is when I start to pull back it will be at the max poundage there is no lower then max. If I were to buy a new bow today it would be of the old design. The old design is So much Easyer to draw

What you're referring to is called the draw cycle. Today's draw cycles are why they are so much faster than yesterday's bows. The fastest bows today can have very harsh draw cycles. A person needs to actually draw and shoot a few different bows to make an intelligent decision on which bow feels the best to him/her.

I have been a bow hunter for over 50 years and I am impressed with the advice that is given to this young man. The advice they are giving is exactly what I would tell you. Don't spend a lot of money and keep it simple for yourself. Some people like highteck and some like simple like recurves or longbows. Just have fun and enjoy the sport.

thanx so much for the info , I have been to Spokane valley archery ,(I guess if you want time with him you need to call ahead ! )and I will go to archery talk and do some shoping maybe , I just feel like if I get that 45 yard shot at mr majestic I need a little more confidance in my weapon so I will continue my journey,thanx guys :tup: :tup:

If your ever in Yakima I can let ya pull back the three " big name bows" I personally shoot the 2014Hoyt carbon Spyder turbo. Harsh to pull of the start, my chill has a smooth start and rough ending but solid back wall. My bow tech C.Knigh is ok but has a real soft back wall. This is just me, and I'm not a pro or a KNOW IT ALL. This is just my experience, and to date the best bow I have ever owned was my Mathews Switchback XT! Just like most of the guys on here said shoot what feels right to ya and trust and confidence in your equipment are the most important keys to shooting. Good luck buddy. :tup:

Hit White Tail Plus Archery Pro Shop in Deer Park. More than worth the drive. Hands down the quality and welcome feeling an archery shop should be.

There are a lot of bows to choose from ...Just go to a bow shop and see what feels good to you ...that's the most important thing about it ...some like longer bows and some like shorter bows ..Some like bows with a small grip and some like a fatter grip ...Get one that fits you and then learn how to run it ...Good luck !

Definately BUY what feels good to you no matter what anyone else shoots.
If you do decide to get a new bow. Look at used. I have seen some very nice bows only a year or so old on this site that would be a great deal. Most have come completely set up.
