I thinking of buy one w/ a 2" barrel. Any input?
-
I like the look of them a lot but have yet to find a Taurus revolver that I would own after checking how much cylinder play there is on a new gun. Handle a S&W 22 revolver to compare and see what you think?
-
:)I bought a 4 inch stainless one many years ago. At 10 feet it hit about 2 feet right. I sent it in and they worked on it free and sent it back. It shot about 2 feet right at 10 feet.
I sold it, have not bought another taurus.

Well for the intended use of a snub nose, accuracy at range isn't a big deal as long as it goes bang when you need it.
I've owned one taurus revolver and it was very accurate

FYI S&W certifies their J frames at 2" or less at 25 yards from a ransom rest. I've discovered mine to be a lot more accurate than you would think at 50 yards.

I have a S&W Model 34 4" round butt that is quite accurate but is the worst leading gun I've ever shot. It doesn't take too long, maybe a box and the accuracy starts to fall off and you can peel lead out in strips. The barrel looks and feels smooth.
I've only had two Taurus revolvers and both were very nice, a SS Tracker in 44spl that I sold off to get the same in 41 Mag that would be deer legal where I hunt. I couldn't ask for a nicer revolver.
-
I had a Taurus 94 in the 90's.. 4" accounted for a few squirrels and rabbits, and many thousand tin cans.. miss that dang thing. the new 8 shot sp101 in .22 may be a better gun though.. I dealt with Taurus customer service a couple times, (not for that gun) both good..
-
I don't own the 94, but I have always been satisfied with my other Taurus hand guns. They always go bang, and the revolver locks up well.
-
this is the one I'm thinking of just a plinker to drop in a pocket while hiking
-
If you are looking for a pocket gun for hiking you might look at a larger caliber if it is to be used for protection. You can get up to a .357 mag in the same size gun :)
-
Not really looking for protection
-
I don't have a revolver but do have a pt-111. Great gun.

Had a 94, couldn't get a decent grouping from it until I tried Remington yellow jackets. Traded it for a 85, gave that to my sister, bought another 94! The second one only likes Remington thunderbolts. Love my .44 tracker too. only Taurus I've had an issue with is the 738. Trigger broke off with a Buffalo Bore load.(yes it hurt, no I didn't cry just whimpered a bit) Taurus fixed it no questions asked. So ammo picky but great guns for the $ IMHO.

FWIW, I have eleven Taurus® revolvers.............
• Mdl 85B2CH 38 Special - 1994
• Mdl 669SS4CP 357 Magnum - 1996
• Mdl 85B2 38 Special - 1997
• Mdl 617SS2 357 Magnum - 2003
• Mdl 605SS3 357 Magnum - 2006
• Mdl 85SS2UL 38 Special - 2007
• Mdl 605SS2 357 Magnum - 2010
• Mdl 605SS2 357 Magnum - 2012
• Mdl 425SS2 41 Magnum - 2012
• Mdl 85SS2UL 38 Special - 2012
• Mdl 992B4 22lr/22Mag - 2013
All have performed superbly and I continue to shoot them all almost every week.
I have only encountered two problems.........
• Mdl 85B2CH broke a firing pin after 11,000+ rounds. I replaced the firing pin & it's still going strong.
I have zero complaints with Taurus® customer service. The one time I had to send a gun in they fixed and returned it when they said they would. Specifically.....................
• Mdl 617 developed excessive cylinder to forcing cone gap (.011") after almost 6,000 rounds. I sent it to Taurus® and they replaced the cylinder and adjusted the crane and yoke. I've since put 2,000+ rounds through it and it's still going strong.
I will not hesitate to buy additional Taurus® revolvers. They are an outstanding value.

I have a 4" model 94 that I bought new in 2004, I've probably put 2k or more rounds through it. It's not picky on ammo, accurate and reliable. The cylinder lock up is o.k. and the single action trigger is "pretty good". In fact my only complaint is that the double action trigger is terrible, it's probably the worst I've ever pulled. Absolutely worthless for hitting anything more than a foot away, it breaks every time and pulls the gun off target right before it fires. Luckily grouse usually give me plenty of time for a well aimed single action shot. My 94 is a great little revolver for hunting purposes and single action plinking and it accompanies me on every big game rifle hunt.

just shot the judge with shotshell and 45 lc.. it is a blast and fairly accurate. wear earplugs and use 2 hands. now I am looking for a judge in a 6 inch barrel cuz the buckshot spreads out too fast. it would scare the crap out of a bad guy. . I prefer stainless but will take blue. also looking for cowboy loads. mike w

If you have a Judge try the PDX loads in 410
.410 Winchester PDX1 Gel and Meat Test (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXHzFntUAp4#ws)
