I want to get some loaded up now for next hunting season, before life gets busier in the spring and summer.
Is there any reason I shouldn't go with these?
I want them for shooting what I consider long range, which would be around 200 yards up to maybe 500.

But, here is what midway has in stock in .277 bullets over 130 grains:
Berger VLD 140 grain (might think about these)
Berger VLD 150 grain
Nosler Partition 150 grain
Nosler Long Range Accubond 150 grain
Woodleigh 180 grain :yike:

I shoot 140s out of my 270. Like it because you compromise a little speed and weight and get a good median.
That being said had a youth shoot a deer with my hand loads and gun and dropped in its tracks. On a one shoulder/heart shot.175 yards.
Getting ready to load about 90 with the 300 wsm right now. Love these bullets.

We'v got pretty great loads for about half a dozen rifles so im sure youl be able to get them to work :tup:
And Id look into the 175 matrix bullets before those 180 woodleighs :chuckle:

My standard bullet that I've shot for over 15 years out of my Browning A bolt in 270 Winchester is the 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip (this was my deer bullet, not elk.) Well, it seems there are no ballistic tips in .277 available right now. There are four .277 Berger bullets available and I'm thinking about order the 150 grain VLD.

For deer, a 130 is good!!! Drop of the Factory winchester Ballistic Silvertip (200 yard Zero) is ~7 MOA at 500 yards, it carries ~ 1000 foot pounds of energy untill 600, and at that distance drop is ~ 10 MOA. I have tested these out to 700 yards on paper, and that is as far as I would ever push them...they blow around in the wind A LOT!!
Bergers are a little sensitive to seating depth. The Noslers are not as sensitive. If you have a "true" 1-10 twist barrel, the Berger 150 will work. Just be warned, they are at the limit of stability...and may need to be pushed a little harder.

If I go with the Bergers, maybe I should use the 140's, since you say the 150's are at the limit of stability with the 1 in 10 twist.
All I know is the BT's in 150 have always shot great for me. But I have never tried them in 130 or 140.

I would like to try Accubonds but I can't buy them anywhere so that's why I'm wanting to use the Bergers. I've always wanted to try Bergers anyway just to see if they live up to all the hype.

The 140gr Accubonds are super accurate and great on game, I use them in a factory .270 Win & .270 WSM.nice ...I need to try them someday :tup:

Thanks, but I don't want the Long Range Accubonds. I read somewhere that they are not good for closer shots. I don't know- maybe the Bergers are the same? I just don't want to give up good performance at 150 yards for better performance at 600 yards. :dunno:
I don't have the time or money to try all the different bullets so I rely on reviews written by people who have tried them.
Midway and Mid South Shooters Supply also have the LR Accubonds, but don't have the standard Accubonds.

Thanks kentrek. I just don't know how they'll shoot. I know the Nosler BT's will shoot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. So I really hate to go to a diffferent bullet.
