Title: Has to be a new record
Post by: YoteSlayer61 on February 24, 2014, 12:22:27 AM
Went on an afternoon hunt Saturday, saw three dogs close to the road on the way to feel free to hunt property. One was close to area we were going to check out. Sucker crossed the road in front of us at Mach 1, no chance at a shot....man those things can move needless to say he had been shot at before!! We drive into this new area looking for the designated parking spot and as we find it pull up to the same dog I'm sure hauling ass out of the canyon in front of us. We decide to check out the area a few miles down the road thinking this spot is a bust. Can't find the spot so after a bit of road hunting decide to give the bust area a try after all. Gear up and walk in about 1/4 mile set call and decoy up in bottom of canyon and set up on the far side just above the sage brush where it met the CRP. I get settled in and show my buddy where to set up and my AR bumps the hot button on Alpha Dogg remote in my jacket pocket sending coyote distress blaring into the stand. Across the canyon about 150 yards or so where we had just walked within about 50 yards of, I see what looks like a Muley doe laying in CRP with just her head and big ears poking out. I thought what the hell is that. I set the bipod on my boots and put the crosshairs on it and holy %*+~ I whispered there's a coyote right in front of us. I've been trying to let my buddy shoot his first song dog but I panic thinking it can't be this easy and worried its gonna bolt I blast her and she drops like a sack of potatoes......after apologizing we check her out and the only thing I can think of was she was sound asleep and somehow we snuck past!!? Crazy....or am I just that good? :dunno: :chuckle:

Nope not crazy. I have had it happen more then once. Get settled in and turn on the caller to see a yote sit up out of it's bed.
