Well, I did it! I am gonna make it happen this year, I'm going on my first halibut trip. I booked on the Ranger out of Westport. The captain seems like a good guy to fish with, and the boat looks like a good vessel. Anyone ever fish on the Ranger? I am so excited to go.

I fished tuna off of the ranger and did very well. You should have a great trip.

Great boat and yes, he is an excellent skippers. You picked one of the top boats at Westport

Went off the Ranger last year for Lings and Sea Bass and the whole boat did great.
He and his crew work their butts off getting everyone the limits.
You will have a blast. Good Choice.

Just remember your seasick pills and raingear! Never been on a boat out of Westport but I've been on many out of Neah Bay and have seen plenty of people say "oh, I never get seasick, I don't need any pills." ...Famous last words! Enjoy your trip and good luck!

If you don't want to take the normal sea sick stuff due to the side effects here is a better way to stay well. Go get some GINGER Pills, I get them at Green Earth in Renton but any health food store should have them. Pure Ginger Tablets, and maybe some Ginger Snap cookies, you will be good to go. Ginger is the oldest known sea sick remedy known to man. We were at Westport and a guy on the boat was about as sick as I have ever seen, I had him chew a couple of ginger tablets and within 20 minutes he was up and having fun with his buddies.

Great advise! I usually take a dramamine pill the night before, and one before I get on the boat. So far so good! I also spend as little time as possible in the restroom or in the cabin, I stay outside! Many folks I fear go straight to the cabin and sit down in side when they begin to feel a little woozy, and being inside makes it worse, but folks don't realize it. Stay outside!!!

I always take a 6 pack of Ginger Ale too! If your queezy its great to sip on!
