is that a wild natural deer? is it a public land buck?
-
That's a great picture of him dining on the juniper.

WA hunter14
Wild and natural? yes.
People have been getting pictures of this guy since July and today's pictures were taken about 5 miles from where the first pictures were taken. On his travels, he is on and off private and public land
-
Great pic! Was it really just taken.....? He is still packing antlers on March 4th? Just asking is all. :dunno:

My, my, what a buck!

I left that another forum and came to this site and my first thread was "no phoolishness, just big bucks". I instantly got an email from the mods here, saying we know you had problems on another site, we don't want any problems here and welcome. While on that other site, I just got comments from what's his name, about taking pictures of refuge bucks or town bucks, etc. All I was trying to do was share a picture of a real nice buck, I don't want to get into town buck, refuge buck, any buck at all. I enjoy seeing large bucks and when I can get a good picture, I like to share it. Lots of people like to look at big bucks and they don't care if it is a town buck or refuge buck, they just appreciate seeing a nice buck.

That's a Washington buck? Wow!

That is quite alright with me. Keep posting them. You take awesome pictures.

I seriously bet that deer is discombobulated when he sheds. That's a ton of weight on that head. I bet he dumps both at the same time almost too. He is almost unfathomable, almost beyond fantasy. Cool deer. Thanks for sharing.
-
It almost looks like his right eye is damaged. :dunno: Great pics, thank you.
-
I wonder if there is a big flat spot on that right antler from resting on the ground. The must have been very heavy full of blood.
-
Biggest dam deer I think I have ever seen still on the hoof! When i was younger my family went to estes park colorado and we seen a group of 5 bucks that I would bet were all over the 200 inch mark. This guy seems to dwarf them tough, seriously what do you think that buck scores 260-270?
-
Yeah Cam Guy... keep posting... LOVE your pics..
-
Here's a couple more pics of the same buck. The size of his horns kind of makes his body look real small. I'm heading back over there in the morning to try and find him again. If I get some new shots of him, I'll post them on Monday when I get back. Thanks again for all the positive comments, I'll keep posting as long as I don't get a lot of garbage or putdowns due to where the shots are taken or the bucks live. To me a good buck is a good buck, no matter where he lives. I don't want to argue about the merits of a buck because of where he lives or the merits of Nikon versus Canon. Everybody knows Nikon's better. ;)

:yike: Good gravy. If I saw something like that during season, I would say there is a decent likelihood that I would wet myself.

I haven't seen any complaints, debates or criticism on anything yet. Keep posting. We love the pictures regardless if a Canon or a Nikon took the picture.

"Might" wet yourself?
Unreal.
-
holyyyyyy cow.......

I have read the studies on what conditions must be met in order for deer to grow hugh antlers. The first would be nutrition and bitter brush(sage)provides good amounts of protein but this buck is eating alfalfa,no doubt.Next would be not being chased around by predators and disturbances by humans.Seeing how its a town buck it has been raised there and is totally used to humans and likely to never being taken by a hunter. This buck would likely be great on the wall but lousy on the dinner table.I have eaten bitterbrush bucks and they are really strong in the flavor dept. as my wife wouldn't let me cook it inside the house.I hunted in Oregon (North Powder)about 20 years ago for elk and seen lots of big mule deer bucks. The elk I took was tasty but they were grazing on alfalfa with most of the deer up in the sage. They were probably going down on the hay fields during the nights.Even then the deer permits were only available by draw so good luck on getting any Oregon buck without a pocket full of greenbacks and drawing on a private ranch.Fees are running over $10k for trophy bucks and you can double that for elk.

Unreal.
Trying to give myself a little credit. :chuckle:
-
I think you need to change the title of this thread!
-
In your post you only mentioned nutrition, you neglected to mention genes as this is a big role player.
-
Looked for him Friday afternoon did not find him. Talked to a guy who found him Friday evening. He still had both antlers. Saturday morning this is what I saw.
Wow, I'm surprised he didn't drop them both at the same time.
-
I heard that it took 2 days last year for the other side to drop. :dunno:
now let's hope he puts on some weight, he looks thin.
-
:yeah: amazing deer.
-
DANG BRUTE! That would be enough to put me down. That's pretty cool. Were you ripe with anticipation of that other one coming off?
-
What a magnificent creature!
-
1/2 of a buck sorry Brute next time
-
The great Buck Norris the bend or. Monster buck
-
Hey Pcal, Bitterbrush and Sagebrush are two totally different plants... both important for mule deer habitat, but Bitterbrush is pretty well documented as being incredibly beneficial to winter range in particular...
Holy Crap Brute.... WOW!
Anyone getting that bone yet????
-
What a buck! I'm surprised there's not an entourage of shed hunters following him around.
-
There is
-
:yike: damn Now that's a buck :tup:y that poor guy must have a sore neck packing all that bone around. :chuckle:
-
would someone put out some northwest beef for this guy, the calcium and micro mineral drain is going to be big very soon.
-
Any shed pics for him yet???
-
Wow
-
It doesn't matter if he is a town or refuge buck, we should all be glad he is spreading his genes. great pics

That buck just has it all. Thanks for posting and I sure hope he makes it at least another year before somebody breaks the law and ends this true mammoth.
