Title: ATV's on Wenatchee and Okanogan FS Roads.
Post by: CAMPMEAT on March 12, 2014, 01:25:36 PM
Just got a letter from my club president stating that the powers in those 2 areas have allowed street legal ATV/UTV's on all motorized roads. Double, triple check with them first, so you won't get a ticket. It's about time, so DON'T screw it up. We've been working very hard for years to get these opened up. You have to BE STREET LEGAL, inspected and have the license plate. If you're NOT INSPECTED, you'll get a citation.

The Okanogan County commissioners have completely repealed two county ordinances adopted last year that opened hundreds of miles of roads around the county to ATVs.

I think that is just for that area only and is about the 35 mph county roads. This is from Conservation Northwest doing it, I believe.

The commissioners are fixing the language from what I understand.

Speaking of ATV's and roads...check this out from SAWS Washington on a forest circus plan.....Blewett area.

WA SAWS members,

SAWS recently received notification about the Swauk Pine Restoration Project near Liberty WA, just east of Cle Elum). As usual, it seems the Forest Service (FS) has embedded road closures into another restoration project, possibly to hide the fact that this is more than just a forest restoration project???

In this particular project, 23 miles of roads are proposed for closures.

Since when were you never allowed to use a street legal ATV on forest service roads in these areas anyway. Example...motorcycle with head light, turn signals, break light, mirrors, lics. plate, muffler ect. Any street legal vehicle has always been allowed on any FS road that is open to street legal motorized vehicles unless otherwise posted. I'm not understanding the celebration please enlighten me :dunno: it's always good to learn something new or not.

The state of WA would not recognize a OHV as street legal, even with all the proper gear, until now.

Yep, its time to get the wife's Rancher a license plate! We always drove 8-12 hours to Oregon to go ride in peace without breaking the law, now we get to go 3-5 hours and have some fun locally, maybe seeing what the area has in store for us!

Personally, I think Idaho has the best riding of all. I go over there a lot. Nobody ever gives you crap and ALL Idahoans hate wolves. At least the ones I talk too.......

Its great over here, for now.  Lots of roads and trails to ride, you can even take your atv on paved roads in town if it is properly licensed.  However I wonder how long it will be before people ruin it.  Lots of people don't respect closed roads and trails, eventually they will have to step in as parents and take away the freedoms we enjoy so much right now.  A few bad apples always ruin it for everyone else.
