Title: What to buy???
Post by: Sharp shooter on March 13, 2014, 08:18:01 PM: So I am looking to buy a couple trail cams but I have no clue what to buy. I have had trail cams before but they always got destroyed bye the weather. Just wondering whatwould be the best trail cam for the west side. Any response is well appreciated

Got a browning recon force in the mail today. Gonna try that one out.

I've heard good things about the primos ultra 35 also and moultrie m80.

Just make sure you shop around. Amazon and eBay are where I buy mine.

I bring mine in during the cold winter months also, to help preserve them a bit.

Good battery life ~ 3 months using photos, widescreen photo's, longest flash in class @70ft, some models have lcd monitor to view your picture angle and review photos. (Con: Video life can be counted with an hourglass). I use five of the M-100's. I believe the M-880 is the latest in this class that has faster trigger speeds and reduced blur at night.

For my cams that go through batteries fast, I generally use an external battery. I have six externals and swap them out as necessary. The Moultries use 12 volt external batteries and I've often considered getting one of those riding lawnmower batteries for around $25 to $30. I bet they would last a good long time on one of those.

Post by: SWiley on March 14, 2014, 11:51:56 PM: I just bought the M-880c and have been playing around with it at home. So far it takes great pictures and am very happy with it. The white flash is very bright and lights up a lot. Now I just need to get it out in the field. I have other Moultrie cams and they also are reliable and take good pictures.

and swiley are you hanging your cams on public or private
I hang mine on public but so far back I don't no if anyone would find it but I still don't want the white flash to give it away if someone does go around it

Post by: Sharp shooter on March 17, 2014, 08:27:14 PM: I hunt minimum 5 miles up a mountain I have only seen 4 hunters in the past 4 years up that high and gets less people each year so I'm not super worried about people I just wanna find the best cam I can that will take good pics and last a while

I've had mine for 2 plus years and leave them up year round. Batteries last forever. I run the energizer for electronic AA's. I changed them after a whole year and approx 4,500 pics. They still had juice left when I changed them too.
