So looks like I am going to go order a new 20 foot SeaArk this coming Saturday. What are your thoughts on a motor. I want a prop driven, fuel efficient and quiet motor. Could care less about speed. Thanks for any thoughts.

I have a 4 stroke 90hp Honda on my 18 foot Hewescraft. Not sure on the weight of your boat but 75HP might be a low as you want to go for a 20 footer. The boat should come with some kind of horse power rating.

I do not think you could go wrong with Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki.. Which ever gives the longest warranty, if all have same warranty go with best price :dunno: my friend say his Honda's are quiet and fuel efficient

I have an 18' SeaArk. I have a 40 hp merc 4-stroke. It pushes it very good. I would have put a 60 on it had I had my way. The wife didn't want me to spend the money on a new one. I would max out the HP if possible!

When I did my research Honda had much better fuel efficiency at lower and mid rpm, they also had a better warranty, they cost a little more than the others and weighed a little more. If I thought I would run high rpm all the time I would have bought the Yamaha, but that just doesn't happen very often. I think the others have improved on their warranty. The Honda's are very quiet.

Those are great utility boats - which model are you looking at?

I have a 90 Honda on my 19' Alumaweld, the boat is rated for 750 lbs, I've loaded over 2000 pounds of building materielas and still got up on plane, plenty of power. There is no need to go over a 90 hp. I don't think you can go wrong with either the Honda or Yamaha.
With my old 90 hp Honda (a 2005), I could trim it out and get about 6 mpg with it with minimal fuel on board and just myself. I have not put the fuel flow gauge on the new Honda 90 yet.

Have a 150 Yamaha on my 18 weldcraft and love it. I would not go with any smaller on my boat. When you load up your boat with fuel and gear it is nice to still be able to jump out of water. All three brands are good to go. I like the Yamaha for price and reliability. Hondas are great but heavy. Yamaha Hasn't failed me yet.

I put the new 4cyl 200hp Yamaha on our 22' hewescraft Op HT last year, cruising at 27mph we get 4.4 mpg top speed is 43mph. great torque and very quiet. The 150 Yamaha by all accounts is the best mid-range motor ever build at least that's what you will hear over on the hull truth. OK after looking at the boat I think a 90hp would work good 115 would be just right I think, now Honda or Yamaha? do you have both dealers close by if something does need to be fixed that is a something to think about.

I have had the Evinrude E-tec years and have had great results. Have not done anything to the motor except drain gear oil and changed plugs once just because. No oil changes, no tune ups, no winterization, always starts right up. If I was in the market again it would be my first choice as I like simple.
