Title: Question about jalapeņo poppers
Post by: nimrod67 on March 23, 2014, 09:53:34 PM
I try and grow my own jalapeņos and I have seen some good ideas on here about them but none of them say if they use pickled or non pickled jalapeņos.

I use fresh ones only

cut the stem off and hollow out and remove seeds, get some cream cheese and lipton onion soup mix and blend it up,  cut the corner out of a baggy and squirt the cream down inside the pepper.

lay a strip of bacon over the top, pin it down with a toothpick and grill standing up until the pepper is wrinkled and bacon done

Oh yeah! Bet you can't eat just one. Also cook a few whole (without gutting) in oil on a skillet. Sprinkle with Johnny's salt. Don't eat the seeds....or do eat them if you want to cry. Save the oil for making scrambled eggs. Then put on some Johnny Cash and sing along about the "burning ring of fire".

Just made a dozen tonight. Cut off the tops, scoop out the guts, slide in some string cheese(mozzerella), wrap with bacon. Grill them till the bacon is done. Good eats right there.

thick cut bacon and I cook them on the treager, get em smoky

they're also good if you just cut them length wise and scoop the seeds,  like a boat.  Then fill with whatever and wrap bacon around it to hold it in.

Here's a tip to cool your ring of fire! The Mexicans at the job site say take off your shirt and  hold a ice cube on the back of your neck and let it melt and the cold water runs down your back and then hits where the fire is and puts it out!  This is all while you are getting your fire started!!! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I don't core them out anymore it can be a real chore. So I just slice in half clean out the seeds. Then just fill with your favorite filling wrap in bacon stick it with a tooth pick. put them in the smoker or on the grill
