Title: Traeger Grill! Recipes?
Post by: jjdavis2222 on March 27, 2014, 08:27:25 PM
I saw the Traeger Grills they were selling at Costco and broke down and bought one. So far I love it!
I've had it 5 days and so far have made a whole chicken, Ribeye and pork shoulder steaks. All turned out great!!!

I'm looking for some good recipes to try out. Meat, veggies, seafood all of it!  Im really looking forward to trying the smoking aspect of the grill when I have the time. I cant wait to try some baby backs and a ham!

If anyone has some ideas please share them! I'm thinking my grocery bill might get a little more expensive!

Thanks

2of my favorites are the sweet rub chicken thighs and the smoked salsa. Both are very good. Buy skin on chicken thighs bone in and use the sweet rub all the thighs and under the skin. Let them sit in the fridge over night then smoke them on the treager. Usually takes 4 hours for me as I increase the heat to make sure they are done,,, 180 + with a meat probe.
The salsa I use around 8 to 10 roma tomatoes, 2 Anaheim peppers half a bunch of celantro, ketchup, treager beef shake or garlic and seasoning salt. Half the Roma's, and smoke them and peppers for 4 hours or so. Not to hot. Skins come right off the tomatoes. Take the seeds out of peppers and blend everything together. Ketchup to taste. You might add some hot sauce or a jalapeņo for extra heat. Smoked salsa always a hit. Have fun

I too bought a traeger two weeks ago now and love it.  I have done tri tip twice now and love it.  I love eating the left overs for a couple days after.  Heck I did a tri tip omelette for dinner tonight.

I buy the pre seasoned tri tips from costco.  I smoke them for 4 to 5 hours, then take them out and wrap them in foil (adding 1/2 cup water) and cook them at 350 degrees for another 45 minutes.  Take them off the grill and let them rest (outside of foil) for 15-20 minutes....slice and serve.  I like mine thinly sliced.

Everything is good on the Traeger. Warming up a piece of Papa Murphy's cowboy pan pizza I cooked on the traeger last night right now.

I went looking for a traeger at costco yesterday and it seems they're not carrying them currently.  I recently used a buddies and think I am hooked.  Any other suggestions on local locations, Wenatchee.
