These are some homemade knifes i made in the past few days. There the first ones i have ever made. Two of them are elk horn the other is whitetail.Made out of some old saw blades i had.Give the two elk knifes to my sons for there first hunting knife gotta get the scraches out of the middle one first one i did. Still learning as i go.But everyone i make just looks better and better.

Thanks deerhunter your the only one that said they looked good, and good luck on your project too.Ya im not trying to sell any ,just doing it as a hobby for now .Pretty hard to make with little tools i have.
angle grinder
hack saw
flat file
chainsaw file
brass rod
epoxy glue
dull drill bits
sand paper
It takes me about 15-20 hours per knife,Just got done with this one ,Plan on giveing it to my soon to be brother inlaw that is going to take up hunting. But now that im makeing them i wont buy any knifes for awhile, might try to make a small sword ,axe, and maybe a spear.

do you like the handle going that way? seems backwards and awkward to handle, but I've never put my mits on a upside down handle like that. :dunno:
Keep at it, maybe I'll be buying a knife from you too eventually

I think they look pretty good for what you got

It does feel a little awkward with the blade down ,but feels real good with the blade up like when gutting. But now that you said that maybe my next one i coulnd make it go the other way .I like the elk horn i used on the first ones cause it was a spike horn and pretty strait but now i just have whitetail sheds im trying to use up and cant find a strait horn. And thanks for the the thumbs up.

What are you using for steel? I wish I had a supply of horn for some scales. I have yet to try making a horn knife.

Im not sure to tell you the truth. All the blades i have made so far have been out of the old saw blade on the left.I know its a 12in blade before i cut it up.The steel on the right i got from a friend that i think wants me to make a knife out of it .But I just dont know were it came from just thoght it woulnd be good to use up.I guees u coulnd call old tool steel.I know its not easy to drill though,u have to drill for 30 secs then stop and let the bit cool down or it will burn bits up like crazy.I tryed just a skill saw blades at first but there too thin and woulnd break and hurt somebody.
