Title: Going price for 556?
Post by: Bmcox86 on March 31, 2014, 07:02:02 PM: What's a good price for 556 ammo? I've been doing some looking and have found some being about 4.4 cents per round after tax, which is alittle over $8 for a box of 20, American eagle brand. Anyone know of any good places to buy it online? Brands to avoid? Not interested in Tula.

They are claiming "once fired brass factory reloads", but the stuff is complete junk and probably dangerous.
I'm pulling apart the 500 I bought for components, I won't shoot it.

I saw that happen in real time on SGN. It wasn't pretty. I don't know how it is now, but I am leery.

My dad got some at a gun show and gave me some, even after I warned him. I'll be tearing down at least some to check charge consistency before I shoot it.

I've bought bullets from them, as I reload, but I don't know how their prices on loaded ammo are. MidSouth's line of Varmint Nightmare bullets were cheaper than Midway's Dogtown bullets, and just as accurate as V-Max's, but at last look, they've gone up in price quite a bit lately. :dunno:
