Title: Texas Hog Hunt
Post by: gallion_t on April 10, 2014, 10:21:45 AM
A friend and I have decided we want to do a Texas hog hunt in 2015. We are just starting to do some research and figuring out what we want. So far we have decided that we want to do a weekend hunt, Friday afternoon through lunch on Sunday. We want to do an unlimited hog hunt and don't want the pay by the pound thing either. We aren't too interested in night hunting or anything special. Just a standard stand hunt or spot and stock. We are more looking for something with a good amount of action. We don't need a giant hog or anything. A few questions I have:

What part of Texas is going to be best for this?
Is there a best time of year to go?
Are there any outfitters I should look into or stay away from?
Is there anything I should know to make the experience more fun?

Travis

Thanks for the advice. I have been all over google looking at different guides. Other than prices and packages I don't really know what to look for though. I've never done a guided hunt of any kind before.

Hop on EASTTEXASHOGDOGGERS forum and offer a hunt trade or to pay for gas/meals if a local will take you out with dogs.  You will LOVE THAT.  using dogs is the only way to hunt hogs.
