Title: What would you do?
Post by: mountainman on April 12, 2014, 09:38:05 PM
What would you do if someone pointed a supposed empty firearm at you and dry fired it towards you...have heard of jerks doing this in jest, but expeienced people doing it who should know better?? I, for one, would be breaking someones fingers very quickly... Opinions?

Zero tolerance.....they would be disarmed and sent packing at a minimum.  If I didn't know them and didn't know if the firearm was loaded or not, I would assume it was loaded (missfire) and I am sure it would escalate fairly quickly.....don't know the outcome, but it may not end well for one of the parties.  In then scenario I am aware of at a local gun shop, I would disarm the person and have PD respond.  They would be trespassed at a minimum.  If there were grounds I would file appropriate charges and seek the fullest punishment the law would allow.

I've seen true professionals at Ft. Benning  do a whole lot worse just for giggles.

I don't like anyone to point a firearm at me.
It has happen a few times over the years. Mostly unloaded taking the out of the rig or around camp.
I let the person know very plain that I do not like it and will not tolerate it.

Along this line I do not allow loaded long guns in the common area of camp.
Leaned up on a tree. Away from the traffic areas maybe.

I talk about it every year before we even start hunting.

If I didn't know the guy and the firearm hadn't been cleared by both parties. It would be way worse than a couple of broken fingers. I've had local guys, firearms instructors, firearms safety types do way worse to me. Even took some bird shot in the neck from one, same guy shot my soft drink while it was sitting on the 300. Yard shooting bench, same guy took a hat I had on the 300 yard bench, dropped it two feet out in front of the bench and point blanked it with a handgun. Makes a guy wonder.

Didn't this actually allegedly happen in your store? Is there more to this thread than just a simple question??

No, it would not have been tolerated. Just too many idiots who need and should go back to a basic firearms training class..

Ok. I guess I must have it confused with something else that sounds very similar.

Just a question as I hear more and more of blatant recklessness with firearms the can lead to very unfortunate situations. You hear about it and read about it too many times and that is unfortunate to see preventable accidents because someone is untrained or just irresponsible with that responsibility of handling a firearm..
