There was a guy making laminated trad bows in the Mount vernon area. I don't know if Riverside archery sold them or just know the guys name... Think the guy lived in Burlington...

Yeah, if they get a feeling you are not a purist you are shut down pretty quick on there.
How long are you willing to wait to get a bow built? Blacktail Recurves make some of the finest stuff out there. And you can get 64 and 66" bows from them. For a 6' 7.75" tall guy :yike: I would definitely look at the 66" bow!!! He will get it done for you, but you may be waiting for a while (current delivery is 9-12 months). Not sure you will ever find a flat bow for that 32.5" draw length :dunno:
Boneaddict has a long draw and shoots a Sapphire flat bow. Might PM him with some questions.

Are you thinking of Steve Gorr (Cascade Archery) out of Arlington? If so I don't think he makes anything longer than 62. Although his bows are made to be smooth drawing rather than speedy. So a 62" might work ok, but you would sure want to shoot one first. I've only met a couple NBA players shooting recurves at 32.5" draw lengths so I'm not sure how well Steve's 62" would fare.

I'm willing to wait long as necessary, I mean sooner is always better but quality is most important, if I get a custom bow (which I'd love) it would be a bow I used for as long as I could draw it back, and as for making them yes, I plan to buy a really good bow and then while I practice with that, I'd Iike to start playing with it a bit and maybe try making a decent one, I used to make them when I was younger (just out of apple tree branches) and I loved it which is how I got started into traditional.

Here is a nice thread on Blacktail bows. Tree Killer probably knows a lot more than me about them. I've spent time shooting one, but never owned one. Other than that, bows are like guns, what one person likes, another likes a different one.
Plenty of reasonably priced used bows, I would not limit myself to any one bow.
I own and shoot several different ones, hunt with a Damon Howatt, but love my Bears.

Norm builds some absolutely beautiful bows and they perform just fine.... and I have NO desire to take anything away from him... Just spend some time looking around. You can get a beautiful full custom or a machined outfit that will shoot as good as norms for about half the cost. Norm builds Mercedes... Period. Fantastic bows... but you know you can get a dam nice driving ford, toyota or chevy too... for a lot less than the Mercedes...
Bigfoot Bows in Oregon.... Whippenstic bows in Wisconsin... both amazing. Too many more to list.
Windauer Silvertips, Dan Toelke... Yellowstone Bows...
For the Ferrari of hunting bows though... look at the Trad Tech Titan recurve with the Carbon Extreme BF limbs... interchangeable and tuneable and fast and rugged and amazing setup...

You've got a ton of options... there are so many great bow builders in our nation right now... dang. And you can go from full out hand built customs to incredible machined aluminum riser'd carbon foam limbed beasts...

Thanks! I haven't heard of some of those manufacturers before, I'll check them out! As much as I'd love a custom bow, unless I can find one for reasonable I'll probably look around for a used one that will handle my drawl length. Atleast until I have more money, that way I'll have one I can use to practice and hit with and when I have enough to buy a really nice bow I'll get it one.
I've heard REALLY good things about the bear Grizzly?

Trad tech makes several affordable risers that you can buy affordable limbs for... Being a beginner, you could buy a set that draw 40# and learn how to shoot a traditional bow. Then, if you were ready or wanted to you could sell them and buy another set that pull 50-55... If you love it, you can upgrade to the bf extremes I mentioned... Anyhow, go to trad tech archery and check them out. Three rivers sells some cool similar bows too.
If you want to go "primitive" you can pick up a decent longbow for probs $200... They are fun too!
