Title: rimrock camping. s fork tieton
Post by: 92xj on April 21, 2014, 10:35:07 AM
Wanting to head to this area this weekend to camp for a night. Need to be able to have the truck with me and would like to be right by the river. Are there places to pull off and camp wherever you would like along the river? Camp fire OK now? Weather channel is saying temps right now are low 60s for the high and upper 30s for the low. Is this accurate? Any snow to worry about?  Pretty much my goal is to camp out of the truck and be able to see and hear water while camping and have a camp fire and be away from folks, not in a camp ground. Any ideas and advice? Bumping lake could be an option as well. Thanks.

I know there are a few places along 12 that you can pull off and camp, they are pretty close to the road so noise may be an issue

@ 92xj....Did you find any good spots? I'm headed out there this weekend. A couple of weeks ago I stopped at Condrad Medows and looked around a bit. There were several day hikers / foragers there milling about. I wondered if it was ok to have a campfire now too. Did you find out if it was ok to have one?

I did not, I actually headed to a different area that weekend.  Now that I am looking back on it, I should have stuck to going ot Rimrock to learn it a little more since I just drew a bull tag there.  I will be heading up there a good bit over the summer to scout and look around.

I may see ya out there. I've got an 01 black XJ.  I'm also learning the area more and have a few ideas and spots I want to look at a little closer. I've gotta get a trail cam to make it worth it. I wonder what impact that burn had on that area.
