no tag soup this year. my tag was good for anterless/collerless damage hunt. small...but it's my first elk. chased it through the brush till i got a shot, with help from a friend was able to drag it to the river, go get the boat and float it out.

I dont believe theres any such thing as a bad FIRST elk!

nice. i shot one about that size (lost it) a couple years ago and the guys on the mountain gave me hell or a rashing for it.
like LTL said there is not bad first elk. good job. i cant wait to get my 1st

Way to go! Looks like my first elk. My wife tasted her first elk backstrap last fall (after eating venison for years), and asked me why in the world do I still harvest deer. :chuckle:
