Post by: cryder on April 28, 2014, 09:12:30 PM
so I got the bull tag last year for rimrock, not knowing much about the point system in this state, does anyone have any suggestions other than the most ridiculous spike only crap where you basically end up with what appears to be a st. Bernard after dressed out, anyway I was hoping someone could tell me were I might stand or ( fall down ? ) :hello: :hello:

Rimrock would be as good a choice as any, especially since you're already familiar with it. Or are you looking for a place where you can hunt branch antler bulls if you don't draw a special permit?

You will have 1 point this year in the category you were drawn in. You are still elliegable to draw again for that category but your odds are significantly reduced. If you are wanting to hunt branch bulls again you would need to hunt the westside or the NE since it is extremely unlikely you will draw again with 1 point. How many points did you use to get drawn last season?

Any of the general seasons on the Westside.  :twocents:

Did you draw your Rimrock permit out of the "Bull" category? I'm guessing probably so. If that's the case, you may still have points in the quality category. Best odds if you want to hunt bulls this year is apply for an archery or muzzleloader quality elk permit.

try Westside, look at some cow tags permits and consider going archery for some either sex units. reapply for rimrock

How many points last year and what was your hunt like? Kill a bull?

I bow hunted last year on a quality bull tag and even if I didn't get the mr elusive I had the best season ever, got into elk 4 times I did a lost clf call at 430 in the morning opening day ( per wayne Charlton by the way! ) and a 4x3 came running up the hill right at me stopped at 15 yards and absolutely no shot ! still being kicked out of bed at knight over that one it just keeps comeing back !I had 6 points last year and would love to have the any bull advantage again but we all know the odds of that but still I will never forgewt that stuff that happen last year ,forever a bow hunter till I cant draw. best of luck on all your guys draws im still going all in and yes there is elk in little naches you little scammer  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :chuckle: :chuckle:

If you want a chance at a branch bull hunt the west side. But I'd say hunt the same unit and re apply for the branch tag. Your best success will come from an area that you know well. Learn it, and stick with it, and it will pay off in the end. :twocents:

And then the timber company will lock you out or charge you hundreds of dollars.
