Well, I got the downrigger set up for the boat figured out and we took it out today, a nice calm day, to test it out. One rod holder on one of the downriggers broke. It was only zip tied on so, back to the drawing board for that one. The other one worked well. The one that the rod holder broke on has a 48" boom. I thought it would work better and really get out past the motor well. Well, it does but it makes it really hard to grab the ball to hook up. Good thing it swivels.

I did notice too that with all of that extra weight from the downriggers and the board their bolted to in the back of the boat, along with the motor, gas tank, and my fat ass, we really plow through the water. I'll be looking for a 12' fuel hose so I can put the tank in the front of the boat to help get us up on plane.
