Title: Springers!!! At John Day dam area
Post by: cohoho on May 03, 2014, 10:42:45 PM
We went 6 for 9 take downs....   Problems -a few natives in the mix, but hey were eating....

Fought a 10ft Sturgeon for about 30minutes till we had to cut it off, that destroyed my favorite Kwik Fish.  The rod I had, was a G-Loomis noodle rod and there was no way to budge it off the bottom, never going to happen..  Nor did I want to break my buddies rod either...   Estimated at 10ft, as it tail walked behind the boat and caught enough to realize how big it actually was...

Normally, I would of said heck with Springers and went for the Sturgeon, but I hooked it on my buddies G-Loomis noodle mooching rod and Shimano Calcutta reel, not sure how well I would have liked smoking the reel and rod during the battle... Or the cost to replace the set-up it as once it hit bottom it wasn't moving with that set up..   :yike:
