Be on the lookout for square stern canoes, they don't paddle all that bad, will carry a pretty big load and with a small outboard will go long distances with little fuel and big loads.

Check duck boats on craigs list regularly as they often come up reasobly especially this time of the year.

You go to small on the salt during duck weather and your in for some swimming lessons.  Waders become sinkers for you!  Don't cheap out when playing with big water.
