Title: Big thanks to Ghosthunter.....
Post by: jackelope on May 09, 2014, 10:14:07 AM
.....for the hospitality last weekend. We were out for a morning turkey hunt...came back to our camp to find we had neighbors in the camp spot next door. Drove by and saw the sign out front ID'ing it as "Ghost Camp".
We ran into him on the road driving and I introduced myself and we went on hunting. Later on the next day his buddy came over and invited us over for elk steaks, baked potato and corn dinner. We couldn't resist. It was a great dinner and a good time spent jawjacking with those guys.
Thanks again for the hospitality, Bobby and Alex.
Good times were had and your camp is pretty awesome with all the history.

Yes, that's a carport with a stove jack installed in the side of it. Pretty awesome cook shack.

Hey you guys are welcome any time you see the Ghost Sign out.
I enjoyed having someone else to yak with beside Alex (Skagit Flats).

I just got back today got near some talkers on Friday in the rain. Stayed out all day as it down poured. They gobbled till noon but stayed out of reach.

Built a fire between my feet to dry out on stand. As I have done many times. Closed my eyes for just a few minutes. Felt more heat than normal, that's when I did the funky chicken dance, my pant leg Was on fire. Burnt a baseball size hole in them.

Ahh well another great trip without blood. Alex saw a bear just up the road.

Good hunting, let's do it again.

Ps
You know you are a stinky turkey hunter when you hunting partner pre-books  a guided hunt with Bearpaw for the week after he hunts with you.

Back to the tents. I have thought about a wall tent but the trek works well except in heavy snow. Thinking about a internal frame for it.
A Big Buddy heater will drive you out of that tent , that what we use getting in and out of bed.
Cook shack for drying clothes.
Wall tents are great but you have to look at the cost and how many times you will use it.
For most guys it's not justified . More nostalgia.
Any tent will work with a tarp rain fly over it with 2 ft over hang all sides.

Jackalope

One more off topic item.  I found this where you were camped.

Yours?  Looks like a foot off a cot maybe?

That doesn't belong to anything I own. Dunno. There was a bunch of junk on the ground when we got there. Tried picking it all up. Guess I missed a spot.
Looks like your buddy scored with Dale yesterday.

That cap looks like and end of the cross brace on an army cot to me.

My brother and I saw ghosthunter/ or at least one of the ghost camp guys at Safeway in Colville on Saturday. Our elk camp is right down the road from theirs.
